There's a good chance that you broke something which is causing the display to fail in this case.... without looking at your actual system and files, we can't say what might be wrong --- especially since the function works correctly on everyone else's system.
changed server and put a virgin smf
so, now it works, right?
If it doesn't work, then I don't believe that your installation is unaltered...
What is your admin name? Any special characters?
Are you using the default theme?

Amongst other things, group 1 is provably missing from another thread the OP has.
Ah, well that would explain it too...
if you're not an admin, your name won't show up in the admin list.
