Hello,
When I try to put a custom avatar, by:
Specify an avatar by URL
or Upload an avatar
I have a message that says it's ok either way,
if I go to the attachments/avatars folder ..they're here.
But it doesn't show up...
Maybe it's a silly thing... but I don't see :(
thanks in advance for your help ;)
Where doesn't it show up exactly?
the avatars are not appearing anywhere.

Are you using a custom theme or any mods that adds to the avatars?
I mean if they are uploaded correctly they must show up, but an extra outside factor might get in the way, such as a custom theme or mod etc.
hmmmm..... actually I just encountered the same issue on my site.
adding an avatar by URL *SAYS* it succeeded, but never actually saves the avatar and the profile goes back to "no avatar"
I fixed it by turning OFF the "force download of all external avatars"
when the problem appeared, I had just reinstalled the brand new 2.0.17 because the large upgrade didn't work for my old forum.
So default theme without mod.
yes, I suspect that something in the proxy code broke the auto-download of avatars

Where do we disable this setting, please?

The setting can be found under Admin | Forum | Attachments & Avatars | Avatar Settings.

hello
thanks for the parameter path, but the problem is that I can't find the parameter "Kindred" is talking about:
"force download of all external avatars".
So I put a screen of the parameters page and tell me if it's ok? but if it's ok, the avatar still doesn't display.
I even tried to put my banner... but nothing is displayed either.
Yet I only installed my theme and last week everything worked fine... I don't understand.

Hmm, I don't see it either. Do you have image proxy disabled in Admin -> Server Settings?
Deselect this option:

I've tried turning it on and off... but nothing changes.

it's done... but nothing's changed either. Still no avatar coming up.
The time of a meal, and the external avatars by url, is displayed again.
Not for the Uploadable avatars.
if I have this solution there that works, that's fine.
My server will be happy, it won't have any more avatars to store.
But plan to fix this problem for future updates.
For the banner, it was a mistake of mine.
Thanks for your help
