Title: settings.php set to 0 file length?
Post by: supernova777 on June 16, 2020, 09:21:23 AM
this is the second time this has randomly happened to me;
i have no idea how this could possibly have happened unless someone on my web host purposely nulld my settings.php to take down my site?
or is this a known bug?

please help?

It's a known bug.

Solution: out the content back from the backup, then make the file read only.

The cause: SMF updates the file when certain kinds of error occur and if they happen too close together the file gets wiped.

If it happens a lot, or seems to become routine, then there might be a bigger problem somewhere.

Well, odds are in your favor - It's hard to find a host worse than Godaddy.

Doesn't have to be a GoDaddy problem in this case.
