Title: Setting up email wild card bans
Post by: EL34 on July 30, 2020, 09:47:24 AM
I saw this example listed as a ban trigger in SMF add new ban
Ban on Email Address (e.g. *@badsite.com)

So in the case above all emails that end in @badsite.com would show up on the ban log, correct?
[email protected]
[email protected]

The examples above would all trigger the ban?

I just wanted to make sure the wild card asterisk works like these examples also?
*.ru
*@house
*fake.ixx

All or any part of the email address would be a valid trigger in the examples above?
Thanks

hi, a few times some human spammers go past the questions (last time was last summer).
Have used things like

*@*.ru
*@domain.com

Works fine, hits in the logs, zero harm for real member registrations.

After going through the reg, as a gift, no ban message but "An unknown error occured, please register again" to keep them wasting time trying until bored and vanishing.

SMF does have a few really good anti spam mods on the mod site, these can also help without the need for a ban :)
