Are you trying to add a forum to a blog, or convert the blog into a forum somehow?
Must admit this is a little confusing, very much aware of users (myself included) interested to merge wordpress and SMF but not convert wordpress to SMF.
Is it even possible to convert wordpress to SMF?

well I mean, anything is possible with enough know-how and time or the money to pay someone that has the know-how and time
so yes it's possible, no it's not something easily done, and would be a custom job
Do you actually mean WordPress or do you mean bbpress (https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/)(the forum software plugin for WordPress) ?

On the other hand you could have a wordpress install and an SMF forum on the same site BUT those are not integrated and so would have separate logins.
That's the approach I have taken.

In the wordpress menu I have a forum button which takes people here:

Most users then simply bookmark the forum directly.
