Installation
Download the latest release (https://github.com/SychO9/smf-potato-theme/releases) package and upload it to your forum's theme section.

Updating
To update the theme, you can either manually apply the changes to the theme's files, or overwrite the theme files with files from a new release package.

Overwriting files with new release package files
This means that any custom file edits you may have made to the theme or any mod's modifications to the theme files will be lost, the former is not a problem as long as you remember your custom edits. The latter can create big problems with your forum setup.

So the only way for you to update the theme this way, is for you to avoid installing mods that edit the theme's files and make sure the theme's files are untouched.

Manually updating
If for whatever reason you cannot leave the theme files untouched, the only other way is for you to make the theme edits made from your version to the latest.

To list these edits, simply use the following URL by replacing the `VERSION` by your theme's version number and `NEW_VERSION` by the latest version number which you can see in the releases page (https://github.com/SychO9/flarum-profile-cover/releases).

Newbie question incoming.

RC3 is yet not released... ?

Anyway, looking good although have not tried it - Actually all of your themes seems to look good, the 3 in 2.0.17 you made are on a level for themself. I'm shortening my list of themes, deleting them one by one while testing and yours still on the list.

Although I guess they won't work with RC2 or RC3?

In any case nice work.

-edit-
The color of the new theme reminds me sorta when the potatos has gotten to much sunshine... Although there exist many colored variatens of potatoes really...

My bad there, I should edit the description to explain better, the theme will work with the dev builds (i.e dev version directly from github) I wrote RC3 because technically the dev version is about to be tagged for RC3.

No, but I will most likely update them for 2.1, NightBreeze is halfway updated.

Nice, I thought you might, as these gems are some of the finest themes around for sure for SMF. Is it a big work to make them able to run on the new version of SMF?
Like what sorts of things changes so they need to be edited, names of things to the CSS?

It is a lot of work, because I am not making changes to them to make them work with 2.1, I am essentially rewriting them for 2.1

Nice theme bro, I dig.

I just looked at rc2 css file. Holy cow...a bit bunched up and it may deter folks from themeing. Im still playing around with it.

Just giving this a test run on my local.  What a fantastic theme you have produced here SychO. ;)

I do however have a issue, but it might just be me not quite grasping what things are supposed to do.  The Secondary Color: Doesn't appear to do anything when I change it.  The Primary Color: seems to change just fine.

I did log it as an issue on GH anyway.   ;)

Thank you, I appreciate issues getting logged there, it makes it easier to keep track of them.

Yea the secondary color is actually only used in maybe 4 or 5 elements, like the alerts counter in the header if you take a look at the screenshots above. It's not a noticeable color at first, but you'll see it used eventually :P

Thanks for the explanation, and therefore it probably is working as designed then.  Sorry.   ;)

In my head it was telling me as the Primary changes the header / footer colors the Secondary would change change the stuff in between. lol..   A sort of split between the two main colours.

yea it's not very clear since the secondary color is used very little, perhaps I could improve the description of those options or something.

But it's excellent!
I intend to keep it as the main one. I liked it a lot!

Very nice theme.
But for me (SMF2.1 RC3) the "Dark" option is not working.
In a former life it worked and was great,
and the download page displays a dark picture.
What am I doing wrong?

From profile Look and Layout

Ed:
I don't know if this is related, but in table smf_themes:

ID memberID themevariablevalue
02namepotato_0.1.1
etc.
31potato_dark_mode1

wasn't the ID theme supposed to be 2 instead of 1 in the last line?

So dark mode it possible only for users, not visitors? Maybe incorporate some logic to follow user OS dark mode preference?

Looks like the quick reply section would benefit from some dark css too :) I added them myself in Sunrise.

Both should be fairly easy to do, I've created issues about them in the github repo, so that I don't forget about them.

Just installed this theme in 2.1.1 and it seems to work fairly well. I have run into a couple of issues though:
When I first installed it and went to modify the theme settings, I got a blank page and the error log included entries about a couple of constants not being defined. I was able to switch to the theme and modify the settings, but neither of the color options was set (not a big deal - just makes the theme extra dark :P).

The other issue is the option to show x recent posts on the board index doesn't seem to do anything - I have it set for 10 (though there's only one post at the moment as this is a brand new forum) and it doesn't show any recent posts other than the one for "latest" in the info center.

Yea I had not tested this in 2.1 golden yet, so I'd expect small hiccups like that, shouldn't be too many though.

Hi!
I liked this theme, but with the upgrade today it gave a lot of warning / errors that it could not update it?
Probably some changes between 2.1 RC3 and 2.1.2 made the problem?

I took the safest route by disabling the theme before I updated...  (quick update from 2.1.1 to 2.1.2), but I would like to know if you think it is just to re-apply the theme after the upgrade or something you need to look into first?

It's working fine still on my 2.1.2 forum. I haven't looked yet to see what changes are made to index.template.php or whether those changes can be applied to Potato as well.

Hey Scyho :) Thanks for making this. I love it!

We're using it on our new boards. I'm a little worried about spamming up the boards with links (I see noone else here has), but if you're wondering what it looks like at our place, just send me a PM.

Something I am wondering a little bit about is the dark theme. I've kinda tweaked things for the light theme and I like a bit of contrast for easier reading, so the text colours are a little on the darker side. However, this carries over into the dark theme creating a problem of a somewhat dark text against a darker background.

Is it possible to force the dark theme to ignore the color picker and use other values for the two colours? Which variables in the css can I change to achieve this?

I've added an attached picture that shows light and dark themes on our site side by side. The announcements board is just a little low contrast (imo) in the dark theme.

By the way, I wanted to merge two topics today and couldn't find the buttons to do this in the potato theme. The manual states these buttons should be at the bottom of the topic page, so under last post. However, I had to switch to the standard theme to find them.

Am I just being an idiot and missing something obvious?

Edit:

Sorry, just found it underneath the pull-down menu hidden under the Reply-button.

Doesn't look like it's happening any time soon, Oldie is still using this I believe so you might encounter very little issues.
You could post the issues you're having and others could have a look and let you know how to potentially fix it?

Hallo - we have installed the theme as we moved to 2.1.4 and used before your sunrise theme under 2.0.19.

But I have now a few questions:
on mobile view - our forum logo is not visible - can this be changed so it is visible?
Possible to remove the wave background (top & bottom) image and have instead a straight line?
in the post reply the font color of all buttons above the smiley are grey as well - how to correct this?

I have a test forum and trying the potato theme with 2.1.4 makes it impossible to post new threads while using that theme. Quick reply still works.

Looking at the update notifications, it does say that there are some tests that fail. I believe the most important are perhaps a couple of places in post template. It's probably not too much work for author or someone else to fix, but it's currently beyond my own knowledge.
