Post by: dan4ever on February 23, 2021, 05:08:31 AM
Hi

After update to 2.0.18 I checked the "Check all files against current versions" and there are many not updated.
And also the files ended with .php~  are somtimes 2.0 and the file 2.0.12 but if i download from your site its 2.0.18

What to do????
Change al by my self??

files ending with php~ are temp files, when you install a mod it creates a backup of the file before altering it and names it as filename.php~

as for other pages saying 2.0.x instead of 2.0.18
it's not really a big issue
not every single file gets altered during an update
only files that were altered during an update were changed to state 2.0.18

even in a clean fresh install  ;D not every file says 2.0.18
I know it's a bit confusing but nothing really to worry about

if you go to https://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/
and click on the name of the update package, not the download but the actual name it will open a parse page to show what all changes were made
you can double check the pages that are failing to make sure the changes were made

when you updated, was there any errors?

also please note, it's customary to wait 24 hours before bumping a topic....

Why? Is your forum not working properly? Are you getting errors?

There really isn't any reason to worry about this otherwise, as shadav said.

Why update if the files are not changed??
They have the old code not the new ones.

Look at the pic here, this is only little of al. Have spend the hole day to correct them.

Its al files, not only .php~

This can't be true!!!
I think it work, no strange error.

YES, there is something going on here!!!

The upgrade to 2.0.18 went well, no problem. Buy later on I see the files haven't been changed!

so...    looks like your system may be one of the "misconfigured" ones that SAYS it's applying updates to files but then (silently) rejects the updates.

Easiest thing to do to make sure that you are updated?

Overwrite your files with 2.0.18 files. Then reinstall your mods.

Thanx for good advice !!!

But if I take away a mod, are the file (.php~) used to go bak to wrong version?
What hapend if I errase that file before I uninstall a mod?

the ~versions of files are just backups for you, they are not used for anything else. If you over write your files with fresh 2.0.18 files, then your mods are in effect uninstalled. https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/How_to_upload_a_fresh_set_of_files

If you upload and overwrite the 2.0.18 files again, you should definitely check the settings in settings.php at your root folder and ideally also call up repair_settings.php and check the settings. The installed mods from the package manager are also available at the database.
But maybe it is a good way to get your installation cleaned up.

You can choose whether to create backup copies of the updated files during a mod or update installation. Have a look at:
Administration Center » Package Manager » Browse Packages » Options
