Title: Thoughts about themes
Post by: marcosbr on September 11, 2021, 11:26:36 PM
When you mess with the "look" of the house, the tenants think it's great. As long as you don't touch the "structure"
I have been testing wonderful themes. But they mess too much with certain things...
80% of users are NOT experts.
Look for this audience!
Too much water kills the plant.
REPEATING...
Your theme is excellent. I am referring to themes in GENERAL!

??? not every theme is going to fit everyone's needs
but they are a good starting point
if you want something custom made to fit your needs then you can either find a theme like this one and tweak it yourself to suit your needs
or hire someone to do it for you or hire someone to make you a completely custom theme

no not everyone is an expert, I'm far from it, but using your browsers inspection tool and a bit of css can go a long way

if you are not happy with the way this theme is and you aren't able to edit it yourself, then you could ask the theme creator nicely and/or pay them an incentive to tweak it the way that you would like

@ marcosbr: I know there is a language barrier here but a little more politeness would go a long way to getting help doing whatever it is you want doing.

The language really complicates me...
But with good will to understand!
It was never a "criticism" but a suggestion.
I mean that EVERYONE should understand that whoever uses SMF does not necessarily understand codes. Use the graphic options!
Changing the look is good. As long as it doesn't change EVERYTHING!
I think whoever creates a theme wants people to use it. The number of downloads will show. (paid is another thing)
Some people did not understand yet that they should please the users and not the experts. SMF is excellent and free.
Here is the wonder of those who contribute. Helping laypeople who use it to have a good forum!

Font reverted to normal size.  Please avoid changing the size of the font in future - Iris.[color]

And we all disagree with you.

If you don't like what was changed,  don't use the theme. Pretty simple.

When I make mods and themes, I do it for me, and then choose to share. I don't care if anyone else likes it.

Please do not shout at people. It does not help. :)
Standard font size is perfectly adequate for most situations.

When I first started using SMF I liked simple themes that did not change much. It was easier for a beginner to deal with. However, once I got interested in customising them to suit myself I started wanting more changes. The result is that, after some time for learning, I often ended up rewriting stacks of markup and functionality.

It all depends on what you want for yourself. If you want a simple theme, there are plenty of them available. If you want to be more adventurous, find something else that suits you.

Nothing personal against this topic.
I only took the opportunity so that "OTHERS" understand the situation!
I recommend this one!
I refer only to this:
I know how to change some things, most don't!
And SMF is for everyone. The more "facilities" the more users we will have!

I did not scream does not offend anyone!
But as always, only the BIG ones can speak here!
I had forgotten about this...
The SMF is great. Some people who spoil!
I stopped and a hug!

I'm sorry but that's the best part of themes, is that it changes the looks of things so that your site doesn't look just like 10,000 other sites

again not every theme is going to fit everyone's needs
but that's why there are soo many different themes available, to each their own

if you want a theme that doesn't change "everything" then use one of the many different Curve Variations themes that are available

or if you want something that looks a bit different, then use this one or any of the other themes

and now I'm shutting up as this topic has gone off topic long enough, back to discussing this and only this theme in this thread, thank you

@TwitchisMental , sorry for derailing your thread

OK. Another proof of "democracy"
CLOSED for opinions!
I talked to the "owner" of the theme!
When "comments" are not accepted, the topic is locked!
For me it's locked!

the topic is not locked, it's open for discussion about this theme
you wish to speak about other themes or how you think this one should be and things
you can do so in your own topic and not derail this one

TwitchisMental already told you how to switch things back to a more default look

Locking. Think what you want marco but this 'conversation' is counterproductive and going nowhere.
