i have a board that have only 2 topics
the child board of it have 18.
when i view the board in index
it shows only 2 topics inside but not 20.
is there a mod so that it shows the total numbers of topic inside the board?
(total topics of board and child boards together)
also the number of posts too...
This is a feature in SMF 1.1 - check board settings if that's the version you're running.
hmm... mine now is 1.0.5
so i guess i have to update it then...

well.. its still the same
they are calculated separetely.
could the board with any child board have the total no. of topics and post together?
there are post in the child board
but not in the board
so the board dont show the post.
i need a mod for it.
You have to go to ACP > Boards > Modify and enable "count posts" in a Child Board
that is already enable by default..
its still doesnt work..
If you've done what Sheepy suggested (Admin > Boards > Settings > Count child's posts in parent's totals), you might have to Recount all forum totals and statistics under Admin > Forum Maintenance before the change appears.
you know what does count post do?
it only makes new replies and topics raise members' post counts.
if you disable it means the post counts wont be addded to the member post count..
i have also recount all the stats in the forum..
it still doesnt work..
You know what, you're not the first to say it doesn't work. I'll take a look when I get back home. Maybe it's a bug or something? Either way, something doesn't seem to be right.
:'( sorry for the trouble..
its weird to see that there are no post in the board..
but there is inside the child board of the board....
so i want to get it fixed..
Have you checked that all files got overwritten when you updated from 1.0.5 to 1.1 RC1?
i delete everything and install with the 1.1rc1..
Strange... I'm using 1.1 RC1 myself without any problems. Is it like this if you use the default theme as well?
I cannot reproduce the problem. Once I enable the setting, child posts automatically counts without recounting. Child of child works too. And child of child of child. Parent board can be empty it doesn't matter.
I also checked the code. Nothing is wrong. Counting child posts takes time, by the way, since that's not how it's designed to be at the first place.
i have a board and than i have like 4 child boards what i want to do is close the topics and thing on the board so it just act as a title. so no one can post any topics on board all the boards should do is show them the child board how is this possible
You should start a new topic, and in support board instead of coding discussion. At permission -> permission by board set the mother board to 'read only'. Or, with advanced permission, just disallow posting on that board for every group.

here is my link...
please tell me the problem if you can find it..
look on the board which say The Grange...
inside there are child boards with topics..
but outside you see there are none..
Hey Desistyle
There are two places you have to enable count child posts
1. ACP > Boards > Settings > "Count child's posts in parent's totals"
2. ACP > Boards > (The Grange) Modify > Count Posts
