Avif appears to be offering much better compression/quality ration than jpg/webp and it is supported by major browsers. Maybe consider supporting it?

I've been looking into AVIF support some more and it seems that only PHP 8 and later will support it and until then commands like getimagesize will not work for AVIF images ...
A modification can add this easily enough, but it won't be going into our bundled features for SMF 2.1.
