Title: SMF 2.0.19 Released
Post by: Sesquipedalian on December 21, 2021, 04:44:51 PM
Dear Members,

Simple Machines is pleased to announce a new patch for the 2.0.x line of SMF, which pushes the version number to 2.0.19.

Notable changes in 2.0.19

Please see the changelog (https://download.simplemachines.org/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_2-0-19_changelog.txt) for more information.

How to update to 2.0.19

If you are currently using version 2.0.18 you can perform the update using the Package Manager (Administration Center > Package Manager). There you should see a notification about 2.0.19, including a "click here to install" link. If you do not see this notification in the Package Manager, please run "Fetch Simple Machines files" from the Scheduled Tasks page (Administration Center > Maintenance > Scheduled Tasks), and then try again.

If you are currently using any earlier version of the 2.0.x line, you can use the process described above to apply previous update patches successively until you reach version 2.0.19.

If you are currently using an older version of SMF, you can upgrade directly to 2.0.19 from whichever version you are currently using by using the "Large Upgrade" package from the Download (https://download.simplemachines.org) page. Be aware that using this upgrade method will require you to reinstall any customizations that you have added to your forum, so if you are running a version of the 2.0.x series, it is recommended that you apply the successive patches instead of using the Large Upgrade.

If you are having problems downloading the patch from the admin panel, you can download the patch package from the Package Manager Updates (https://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/) page and install it via the Package Manager, as you would any other mod package.

Please refer to the Online Manual for more details about patching (https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Patching) and upgrading (https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Upgrading).

Finally, as always, please do not use this topic for support requests. You will receive a much quicker and better response by posting in the 2.0.x Support Board (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=147.0).

Thank you for using SMF!

Regards,
Simple Machines

Thanks for update :)

Maybe it would be worth to mention in first post that unofficial fix for birthday date (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=576665.msg4081406#msg4081406) should be uninstalled before applying this patch?
For some it will be obvious, for others not so much  ::)

Thanks for this release, and now I'm waiting for SMF 2.1.0 to finally be released. ;)

Important: If you installed this patch (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=576665.msg4081406#msg4081406) which fixed the display of the date of birth in SMF 2.0.18, uninstall this patch immediately before installing SMF 2.0.19

It's also pointed out in Package Manager.

Note the RSS string function unofficial patch would need to be uninstalled also.

Thanks, so far so good, although I'm tempted to bite-the-bullet and upgrade to the 2.1 RC4 core to get better mobile support than what I've already patched and to begin porting the theme over seeing as this forum itself has done that...

Hello,

There's an error doing the upgrade (large) process (upgrade.php)

On Themes/default/languages/index.english.php

<?php
// Version: 2.0.18; index

Change for

<?php
// Version: 2.0.19; index

because:

$temp = substr(@implode('', @file($modSettings['theme_dir'] . '/languages/index.' . $upcontext['language'] . '.php')), 0, 4096);
preg_match('~(?://|/\*)\s*Version:\s+(.+?);\s*index(?:[\s]{2}|\*/)~i', $temp, $match);

Thank you!

Some users have reported problems running the large upgrade packages, with error messages about outdated language files. The large upgrade packages for 2.0.19 available at https://download.simplemachines.org have now been fixed to solve this problem.

If you have already successfully updated to 2.0.19, no further action is needed on your part.

If you previously had trouble running the large upgrade, please download a fresh copy from https://download.simplemachines.org and try again.

Not sure of the history but this is why when 2.1.4 comes out it's important to have that VERY prominently in the announcement - if it's added in later fewer people will see it.  :)

It is always in the initial release announcement and usually in big red letters. Still doesn't help.
