Title: Poll Takers - DataMining?
Post by: bsmither on March 27, 2022, 01:11:29 AM
For those who implement polls on their forum, what do you use for data mining?

Does the poll feature of SMF provide sufficient / insufficient platform complexity?

Pretty sure most people who make polls do so for very simple questions because it's not a survey tool.

It's for adding 1 question to a topic and having some answers (ideally under 100) that users can choose. There's no extended reporting on it.

I've never used it for any sort of data mining purposes - just let users choose an option then add further comments about the subject as a post.

By default,  smf does not track who voted or when,  so there really is no data mining possible without modification

Of course it does. How else would it show you what *you* voted for in a poll, or prevent you from voting twice?

I will agree it doesn't track when, but often for polls this isn't useful anyway.

Hmmmm... you're right. It just doesn't normally expose that information
