I've asked for this feature many times before in my request for a CMS - but basically, having the user use his profile like a personal homepage (much like AsianAvenue, etc) - this way, people will tend to use their profiles more, and also send it out to their friends, etc. thereby generating more hits for themselves and also more loyalty.
If the URL was like site.com/community/username.php that would be amazing as well =)
i dont understand, you mean like on icq.com/devinatart where each user has a page. Isn't that like their profile page though?
I dont really see the need of adding that to a forum, its more of a CMS thing.

just install the Bio Mod, you can create a page about anything there.

but with simple machine's you also can choose to disable AIM / ICQ stuff because most of my members dont have it...

Raine, you're risking a lot when you mention such a mod. I'm sure you've heard of all the malicious tags that can be used to mess things up. And if you're a fan of AA (asianavenue.com), you surely know the stress those guys have gone through trying to block people from misusing the personal webpage feature. Mind you they're a BIG BIG company with LOTS OF MONEY and PEOPLE to work on protecting the site. If you want this feature, then the only way it MIGHT work is if you were only able to use the UBBC tags, but the pages that people would make from those tags would be very dull IMO.
SMF allows basic html and bbc. Also, strip_tags() removes malicious code. It isn't really a security risk, just use the same functions that post allows for. You can make a decent page from that.
Is there a bio Mod available as the one in the customise section is way out of date?
I would love to have users have abio page that they can edit and place various things on.
use ultimate profile mod search in community it is beta and not secure too.

i think the customized profile mod is on its way there... (it would even be better if it had more options such as subinputs according to prior inputs)
add a place to show off buddy list and then were getting somewhere....
unless the ultimate profile mod ever becomes something more stable.... would be kinda neat also...
