Just checked the error log and found an error from "XRumerTest". Should I be concerned? I assume that the error means this (whatever it is) did not get in.
Any security related mod recommended to fend off this type of thing?

you can't stop them from hitting your site -- but you can stop the bots from registering & posting by using the questions feature and/or other anti-spam measures.
