It could certainly be done. I had no plans on doing it personally.
If you know anything about CSS, it wouldn't be hard to do yourself.
Maybe if I get some time, I could take a look at making a dark version.
A quick change that you could do is open index.css.
At the top find
--bodybg: rgb(231,231,231);
replace with
--bodybg: rgb(31,31,31);

Looks like I had some time to play around with a dark mode.
Still trying to get the colors right but so far -

As stated in the release notes, it includes the attachment ui changes brought in by 2.1.4, one minor new feature, and several adjustments to various areas.

Take a look at the Chakra (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=586412.0) theme. There are others that allow you to change colors as well.

If you need a green theme the one mentioned by Steve does have a Green option.
I would also suggest looking at Diegos theme NameX (https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?theme=3003) . It has a green variant and has a dark/light mode.
