Bonehead question I'm sure, but I need to prevent folks from opening any new topics in a specific board.
They can reply to the existing topic we have in there. I just need to prevent any new topics from being opened.
Create a new permission profile for the board, and you can customize all permissions for that individual board.

Got it. Thanks. I've always just managed it by grouping people into different membergroups (and the associated things they had access to).
I never had a need for my different groups to share a particular board---and deny them the ability to post anew.
I created a board permission group called Replies Only and assigned it to the boards that I wanted it to be on.
that's about what i did as well. it's funny that i've gone this long with the SMF install and haven't had to employ that.
