Title: An explanation of todays' downtime
Post by: Grudge on December 26, 2005, 06:19:00 AM
All,

Today the Simple Machines site was up and down for around twelve hours. This was due to an issue with a beta version of SMF installed on this server. The script was promptly fixed, but the resultant server problems took some time to resolve, considering this happened over the holiday period. Thanks to all for their patience over this period. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused as a result of this outage.

Regards,

Simple Machines

Can you verify that this bug only exists in 1.1 RC2?

So that people who are running RC1 can be sure this won't happen to them (and if it can happen to them, please post a patch ..)

RC2 online, RC1 is not affected in any way.

So when can we personally experience this bug (rc2) for ourselves?  ;)

BTW, thanks to the team for working so hard to fix the problem!

You can't, it's been fixed.

Seriously though, thats why CM first releases help, had it been public it could have caused some major issues.

I figured it must have been gremlins.

A stable rc2 would be nice. No gremlins needed. lol

Can't wait for 1.1 final though. Excited!  ;D

Oh, SMF was indeed down...I thought it was my ISP acting up again and blaming me for "messing up their network configurations". (They did blame me for that when I called them about unable to reach some sites)
