But the default theme already is in colors that kinda look like the ones in that theme, or am I missing something?
Very nice color versions, Mystica. :)
Love these variations, really! The green one's my favorite, after the blue default one. Mystica, you've done a great job! :D Thanks!
Oh yes those look great. I may give the black a try later if I get some time today. ;)
Look good.
I'll probably snatch the green one as it seems to be pretty close to what I planned to do after I finish my black/noir and red versions! At least it will save me from doing/retouching the gradients and icons myself :D
The other ones look good too, but I prefer the dynamics of the original with a lighter shade titlebg.
I hope you'll have one in the same colors as your loonpeach so I can keep my color scheme, and still offer my members a style choice.
You're quite a talented designer, Mystica. Great sig too!
Thank you for all you do for us.
Nice work! Thanks.

Excellent work. I would love a gray theme like this one.

Gray sounds like a good idea, will put it on my list.
Is there a "how to" that explains how/where to change the colors of the default theme on my forum? I can download them, but am lost after that. :-[
I have installed new themes, but am thinking this will work a little differently.
Thanks!

I made a decent Grey (or Noir which I like to call it :P) version simply by desaturating the original blue images and the blue background/link/border colours in the CSS file.

Very nice, great job Mystica :D
I will be very glad if you make color of the AutumnLight theme for smf 1.1 rc2

Yes, orange, brown, purple and chrome (all in light and dark) are on my list, so those will probably be the next versions I'll be working on.
it's wonderful. thanx for now

Initially, I thought about a more metallic/glossy look, but with my limited Photoshop experience it takes enough time to desaturate the whole batch of images, so I decided to keep it as simple and basic as possible. I might try to add an adjustment layer and play around with the brightness/contrast settings later though, or just wait and see what you come up with...
I didn't plan to release it, but if there is any interest, I guess I could.
I've also done a red version (original images colorized with Hue = 0 and Saturation = 50) by the way, but personally I think it may have turned out a bit too crimson/pink (turns out that was due to colour rendering on the laptop I used to make it).

Very nice mystica --- I'm interested in the Brown!
How can you edit the look of this theme? There's a theme_info.xml file that can be edited but where are the various template files that can be edited?
These themes are just color variations. They use the default theme's files. If you want to edit a file, copy it from the default theme into the color variation theme's directory.
I've already made 4 color variations, I'm now going to be working on a peach based version (request from one of my members) save duplicating efforts Mystica. Once the peach one is finished you can always altar things a bit more until it meets your standards as well, although I will try to get as much right as possible first time with this one ;) lol

So do I edit the files in the default directory or am I suppose to copy all of those files into the new dark-black directory? I'm confused as to how this particular theme works, since it's using the default files.
Right now all I want to do is add text links at the very top of the page, and then possibly make my custom logo (that sits on the top left side of the page) linkable.
I'm also having a hell of a time getting the Users Online Today mod working with this.
Suggestions?
Well, this theme simply uses the files in the default directory. If you want to edit a file, it's best to copy it from the default directory and edit it then (files in the default directory itself should always stay like they are). Then upload the edit file to the dark-black directory. You only need to copy the files that you want to edit, all other files will still be used from the default theme.
For the changes that you want to make you'd only need to copy index.template.php and edit it.
Mods should work with these themes just as they work with the default theme. If a mod doesn't work, check if it's meant for the forum version you are using and if there are any images that will have to be copied to the new theme's folder.
great Variations....
I was wondering if you could help me out on a small problem though. On the Info Center area topics thats in the "recent posts" that are long are pushing the table off side....anyway I can fix this?
Do you happen to know WHERE in the index.template.php file I would have to add text links to work at the top of the page? I'm looking at the code of it right now, and I can't figure out where it should be.
Thanks a ton!

In boardindex.template.php on line 266, remove the nowrap="nowrap" part.

Depends on where you want to add them. Right at the top above everything else? Then it would be best to put the code right below the <body> tag.

What line are you referring to? There's a couple <body> tags in the file. I tried it with the first one on line 168 and it broke my forums. Thanks!
Thanks for the quick response :)
Disregard my question. I figured out it has to be under echo ' on line 170. Thanks though!
Mystica, some images in the dark brown theme are missing. Maybe just one though...the "New" button.
Right, the new.gif seems to be still taken from the "english" folder, I didn't include that one in the color variations. There's a new.gif in the "buttons" folder though.
Some of the images from the topic folder are missing as well Mystica.

They're not used on the forum, at least not with the default theme...

I might be missing something here, but in the original thread about the colour variations, all I see in the posts are the colour names.
Should I be looking somewhere else for the theme info?

Help, not getting these to install right. I downloaded dl-green.zip... it's got style.css and theme_info.xml and an image folder.
What do I do next?
I also tried to make a copy of the default theme's entire directory, and overwrote the above files with the new ones from dl-green.zip, but it didn't work. I can't get the tabs to show up right. :(
Go to your admin section -> Themes and Layout, at the bottom of the page it says "Install a New theme". Hit the "Browse" button there and select the .zip file on your computer. Then click the "Install!" button and it will install the theme automatically for you.
@Mystica
as of yesterday, the dl-blue was missing the "new' icon too., or i should say it's looking here

Hmm that's exactly what I did... it copied image folder, style.css and theme_info.xml into a new directory. Are there supposed to be more files from elsewhere?
I select the theme and it doesn't work right. What am I missing?
This is on a Joomla-integrated SMF installation (local test server running JSAS 1.03)
No, there shouldn't be any other themes. What do you mean with "it doesn't work"? Does it not install, not show up or are there images missing??

It installs ( I see a "Default Green Theme" ) but when I select the theme to use, it just doesn't show up "right".
There are images missing, and some of the fonts are the wrong color...
Actually there is no trace of green anywhere. ::)
Hmm, just thought of something - maybe I have to *merge* the two CSS files (Joomla and SMF)... maybe I'll give that a go...
Hi Mystica,

I clicked 'change' under... Current Theme: SMF Default Theme (change)
The next page did not list any of the variations Themes.

What to do? :(
Make sure you have the themes installed and allow members to select themes.
A-Ha! figured it out... there was an extra "www" in the path to URL directory :-[
Thanks for your help, Mystica.
Think I still have to merge my joomla/smf css files, but it's displaying properly now! :)
Hi Mystica,
Thanks for the fast reply. ;) The themes are successfully installed and I have set "Allow members to select their own themes." As I'm an Admin, I can change the themes without restriction.
Under my Profile I can see and change among "Forum or Board Default", SMF Default Theme, Classic YaBB SE Theme and Babylon Theme... but it does not show the new Variation themes.
What do you think?
Strange... I login as a normal member and I can see and change the Variation Themes in my Profile.
But when I login as admin I can't. ???
Wonder if this themes is depend of language in use again?
Thanks..Mystica, great skins you have made, or color variations :D
I think this collection (at last part of it) should be added in SMF package ;)
i.e. some ligt blue themes could be added, mean blue in dif variations ;D
I've installed the Red variation, but I'm not getting any change in the top panels and background. What have I missed???

hi
can someone please direct me as to why the new themes i install (the color variation ones) give me a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom?
what do I need to modify to fix it?
This problem dosent occur in the default or any other themes, only when I use any of the color variation ones this happens..
please help
I had a look Akulian and I had to seriously shrink the window in order to get a scroll bar at the bottom. I know I use a resolution of 1280x1024 but I seriously reduced the size of the window in order to get a scroll bar at the bottom, and that's with the forum wrapped by MKPortal with both columns open.
My guess though would be that you need to change something in the CSS of the variation as apart from the graphics this is the only thing that is different to the default theme.
I made a variation aswell
Added it to the list.
Thanks also made some Black and White Variations
They're added.
Great theme, Im using the black one, thank so muh.
BTW is there anyway I can add my custom banner?
Go into Admin, Current Theme Settings and you should see "Logo image URL:"
enter your logos URL into there
I'm sorry, I don't know where to post this, please move it to the right forum if this thread is not correct.
I searched, but couldn't find this for the new RC2 theme. I looked in the index.template.php code, messed with it a little bit, but I couldn't get it right. I would like to make the whole default theme 780px. Which file and what code to I need to change? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hello Mystica,
Great choices, I have given my forum users several to choose from.
I have had several requests for a tan color. Sort of like the "brown" one you have posted but lighter yet.
Maybe using this color as the darkest color: #D2B48C Tan
Thanks,
Cowboy
I made a Sepia version by colorizing the original blue gradients/images with hue and saturation both set to 30. That's probably a bit darker than what you have in mind though...

Hi Mystica,
Sorry for my poor english.
I've installed your default theme color variations. But after that, I had a little problem with the images of mirror tabs. When you click "members" main tab, there are missing mirror tabs for "view all members" and "search all members."
The missing images are:
mirrortab_active_first.gif
mirrortab_active_last.gif
mirrortab_active_back.gif
And need some modified tags at style.css
Thanks for your default theme color variations, especially for the default green.
I'll be updating the color variation themes in the next couple days, there are a couple other things that need to be fixed. Thanks for letting me know.
edit: should all be fixed now.
Any chance of a very light tan/beige or yelowish colour to match this
http://thehedgehog.co.uk/
I'm using the brown theme http://thehedgehog.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=2.0 but the header and the footer plates are too dark so the writing and images don't come right and tryinmg to change them is being very problematical
I'm planning on making orange and yellow versions, yes. I just don't know when I'll have the time.
Thanks
Is there any way to alter the existing brown so that the writing is legible in the forum index pages at the bottom
Everything I try seems to make it worse http://thehedgehog.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=2.0
If I change the text to white or a light colour , I get it there but somewhere else on the forum I lose the text
You could try changing the titlebg.jpg and change the background color of .titlebg class accordingly.
Tried that
the moment I put a light titlebg.jpg & change the css to correspond I lose the text on the board indexes
Did you try changing the text color of the .titlebg class?
Yes but that also changes soem text elsewhere as well for some reason
I'm leaving it for now until I have lots of time to fiddle or you make a new theme colour that suits
Thanks for your consideration & time

Is the default variant "Dark BLue" suppose to only have text links and no buttons inside a thread?
go to your admin panel, current theme and scroll down and look for Show buttons as images instead of text if there is a tick in checkbox then check the .zip and your directory to see if the images are in there and if they have uploded, if there isnt a tick in the box, put a tick in the box and click on save.

Please check the "buttons" folder in the theme. Look for files like "quote.gif" and "reply.gif".
Hi Mystica, thanks for great color variations. I am using dark-black, just slightly changed stylesheet and added two or three my images. You can see it on address http://www.darkrevolution.org (http://www.darkrevolution.org) (it is quite slow sometimes, be patient :)).
I also had problems with some images missing. I solved it by copying all files from default theme's images directory to dark-black images directory (of course, I used "skipall" option to avoid overwriting your images).
After that, I have noticed that there is no entry in <based-on> section of theme_info.xml file. Maybe adding "default" to that section will solve the problem with missing images?
Which images were missing? The based-on option won't help here, then it would use the default images.
corious as i installed this version fine, try installing and over-writing your files, then re-upload your versions and say overwrite
wow. I really love the blue one. Thanks! :)

but the images folder wont upload

Mystica,
I downloaded the updated "Green" (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=64128.msg443180#msg443180) variation that fixes the Active Tabs, which is great.
However I noticed that the BBCODE buttons in the editor (the ones above the smileys while typing posts) are a bit weird.
Couple problems:
1) button graphics are wrong, for example "underline" and "insert hyperlink" buttons interchanged;
"font-face" and "insert email" buttons interchanged.
2) where the | is, there is now instead "#" - it seems that "#" has become divider.gif ???
I'm not sure if it's just me or something in my setup, but I simply uploaded the zip file and overwrote the entire "green" directory.
Thanks sloopz for the gray theme ;D

Hey Mystica,
Question:
Our club installed the SMF1.1 RC2 software.
We have the 3 Themes but the're all in blue.
The colors of our club are Red and white.
That's why I want somthing with Red in the Theme
I've seen a very piece of work from you. Namely the Red theme.
The languages we use on the Forum are English, French and Dutch(Forumstandard)
Is it possible to install the red Theme?
And will it work with the different languages?
Thanks already
Grtz P
you could create a new theme folder in the Themes directory for example
Themes/Default Red
and upload the files of the red one into there.
or the long way would be to copy the default directory and name it Default Red (or similar) and upload the red files into there.

(sorry for late answer)
Only few images - new post image and sticky topic image (when viewing the topic)
Two questions
1. All dark themes are showing a white background, how can I fix this please?
2. Which file do I need to change to stretch the forum to 100% screen width and height please?
Thanks
1. this can be done in the style.css look for body and change the background colour. Someof the dark themes also have a dark version are you sure your downloading the correct one.
2 width etc is done in index.template.php
I would advise keeping an unmodified copy incase your make a mistake.
Thanks
I got problem 2 fixed, it was actually located in the .css file of each theme where the main body properties are defined
As for problem 1 I think the issue is caused because my SMF is bridged with mkportal
So it might be that the css file for mkportal is interfering with the forum...I will try and seperate smf from mkp and see what happens
Thanks anyways
Great themes
thnx sloopz.
I've done just that and it's working good.

Then you can't have overwritten the css properly.
Ofcourse i did. I overwrote each css file and the entire image folder.
Maybe your browser is chaching the wrong files then.
so then what do I do?
Firstly you should fix your html. Why do you have two <html>'s?
Before you were asking how to set it back to the original colours. Is that still what you want to do? All of your images are dark.
what do you mean?
i dont get you..
the html header is for my banner.
Yes, and it's completely wrong. You can only have one <html> in a web document. http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.techultimatum.com%2Fforum%2Findex.php
im still not able to get it done....
How can I get my own logo to be centered at the top of the page? I do not want the forum name at the top left, but I would like the smflogo.gif to be centered. I tried this and it's just not working for me. I suppose if I look at it long enough I could probably figure this one out, but I don't have the time at the moment. Thanks!
Not sure if this has ben brought up before (I couldn't find it).
I am about to create a duplicate of my current default theme and apply the dark blue css and pics.
I have noticed that other sites which have done the same have this problem: (also related to other themes also)
If you look at the help file some of the writing does not show up as it is the same as the background. This is really bad if you look at the posting section, you cant see any text until you highlight it.
Is there a reliable fix for this?
many thanks.
Mystica has updated them all not that long ago ... best is install it and if you get the error take a screenshot or give us a direct link.. these other themes used may been an older variation of the themes
I've installed it and the text has disapeared as I mentioned
Please see:
http://www.pick-your-brains.co.uk/index.php?action=help
May need to select them as I'm not sure which will be the default for the moment.
Also noticed the same problem in some of my admin areas.
can you set up a test account plz :)
ATM as you have the standard default as your default that is what im seeing.
You should be seeing a box change the theme in the top right hand corner (guests have permission) but I'll
I'll set up an account anyway user:test password test
ah they pictures thats simple :)
Still need urgent help on this please.
How can I make the help file text a appear.
Taking another look at it, I think the problem is that I need to change the background colour of tables within the help file.
How can I override the style for this in one theme only?
sorry I knew there was something I needed to do :)
You need to copy Help.template.php into your Dark Blue Directory and search for
<div style="background-color: #D0D0D0;">
replace with
<div>
will make the background colours the same
Fantastic, thank you very much, glad there is a simple cure.
I'll get that sorted, if you dont hear from me again then it has worked.
Many thanks
Quote<div style="background-color: #D0D0D0;">

Almost there,
I replaced all instances like you mentioned above and it is a lot better.
I just need to change the cell background colour within tables.
Please see: (towards the bottom)
http://www.pick-your-brains.co.uk/index.php?action=help;page=post
Would it be possible to download an updated copy? getting myself confused now.
least we got the top sorted im working on the cells atm
Hi sloopz,
Any luck with this dark blue theme?
im afraid I dont sorry ..ive tried all i can think off ...

where ive got ?.?.?. add the colour code

Mystica,
Are your Color Variation themes for 1.1RC2 compatible with 1.1RC3?
kai920: yeah I read that, so does that mean the classic theme variations are compatible? or do I have to edit theme_info.xml? because I'm confused on all this
from what I see so far, the additions seem to already be there (shrugs) so I'm confused because it looks to me like the variations have already been made..

Just open the .css file and at the end add these lines:
/* The AJAX notifier */
#ajax_in_progress
{
background: #32CD32;
color: white;
text-align: center;
font-weight: bold;

Is it possible for a compilation of all default theme variations and make it as defaultMC (multicolor).
Many Thanks... :)
Sorry to say that quite a number of those theme's' css file has NOT been updated for 1.1RC3.
I knew because i am working on a multicolor default theme (by compiling all the themes listed there) with the color change option (thanks to HarzeM, i use the Dilber MC (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=91902.0)'s code) on the main page.
So far the color changing works and no errors at all, but i have make it so that guests would not have that option. I can't imaging the guests keep changing and testing over 20 colours on my forum....
I try to keep the things easy and not to mess around with the template files since i'm not a coder, so with the compilation, i need to use images in color that suits most of the color themes. I think the themes need to be separated in a Light Theme MultiColour and Dark Theme MultiColour but i haven't do that.
I'm testing it for the first time and it's not working. I'm using 1.1 and there just isn't a style, it seems - I get white page background, unadjusted font size, basically just the browser defaults for all settings concerning colors and fonts. :(
It's for 1.1RC3, not for 1.1 Final. I haven't tested it with 1.1 final yet.
Just uploaded new files for version SMF 1.1 Final at Theme Site (http://themes.simplemachines.org/index.php?lemma=158).
Please take note that you need to go to Admin-->Current Theme-->Theme Options and Preferences making necessary changes for the color change selection box appear on the homepage for the logged in member.
As you see in this picture the header come down too far behind my banner..any ideas on how to fix it? Im using default theme black.

I noticed that the Default MC failed CSS validation.
QuoteFile not foundhttp://www.theopenrange.net/forum/Themes/DefaultMC_fin11/style.css?fin11: Not Found
Is the error.
Looking at index.template, I found this comment:
The ?fin11 part of this link is just here to make sure browsers don't cache it wrongly.
It this something that can be fixed?
Oh, there is no style.css at all in the DefaultMC Theme, i think you can delete away the line 113 at index.template.php .
Please feed back if that works.
I commented out this line in index.template:
// <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="', $settings['theme_url'], '/style.css?fin11" />
And it now validates.
Thanks Bebe!

Hi! I love this theme (the default multi-color). I just have one question: is it possible to set my log-image with a transparency and if so, where do i do that at? Also, is there anyway to use a different logo on different colors or to sometimes have ot as the text of the site name and sometimes a color?
I am running into the problem where our log looks very bad with some of the colors - and I want users to be able to selct their own color.
I'm receiving an error when I try to FTP the new images -
553 Rename/move failure: Permission denied
Do I need to change the them temporarily and then do the update on my default theme?
Thats a permission error that you'll need to have your host take care of. You don't need to do the update on the default theme, the color variations are complete separate themes from the default. Install them separately.
If you're currently CHMODDed to 777, try CHMODDing to 755.

you should ask in the theme thread or in Help Wanted (Not Support) (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=50.0)
but if you wanna try urself colors are located in the style.css in the theme directory and images in the image folder in the theme directory
absolutely wonderful themes....going crazy over these colors. Especially the black and the grey one
Hi!
First, thanks to bebe (and all others who have contributed) for the great work on this theme. It's awesome!
I'd love to use it on my 1.1.3 install, but am wondering: can I expect any compatibility issues?.
I did a test install and things seemed OK, but I'm new to SMF and am not sure what noob dangers may be lurking in the waters. Grateful for any advice, warnings, or tips!
No problems on my 1.1.3 install.
I have seen no problems so far on my 1.1.3 install as well and I use a couple of these templates....some I have changed around a little on the colors to fit my sites needs....no problems so far just once in a while I'll see that the locked topic image is not there in which I either make my own or take the default one and upload it to where it needs to go.
Thanks a million for the help. I'll give it a try, and if I do end up running into any issues, I'll post here so everyone will benefit from the solutions. :)

Have a link to your site? Did you check to see if the theme installed properly? Look in the theme folder in your FTP and see if the files are all there.
The path should look something like this:
Themes/theme_name/index.template.php
All other files and folders should be in this directory.

I really like the purple theme, but I can't figure out how to install it. I downloaded the file but I can't seem to install it, I click the browse button and the file opens up to other files (images, style.css and theme_info.xml) and when I try installing those it doesn't work.
Sorry for such a basic question, I am still very new to this system. I do love the message board, this system is great!
Sounds like you are trying to install it via the package manager? Make sure you go to Admin > Themes and Layout > Manage and Install <---- from here upload and install the theme. If you are using this method to install, make sure you are selecting the zip to upload and not any other files. SMF will automatically install the theme for you from the zip file after you upload.
Thank you, that was the problem! :)
Hey guys
i love default theme color variations
i dont know much about graphics and editing or making css
so anybody have some nice edited css files for default theme
i love to see difference
You cna download various new colours here: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=64128.0
i have already seen them
i said anybody have done something more different with default theme
All that default theme color variations are good but i expect more
ekfaysal,
Most folks who tinker with the default do it for two reasons:
Make minor changes to color and layout to be different, and that is all they need.
Or use the knowledge to then go on and make their own custom theme to match their site or whatever.
So you won't see much in the way of major changes to the default theme published as such.
I am having a slight issue with the default MC.. I have it just installed on a few boards (not the overall site index) and, when installed that way, it seems users canlt change colors. Is there a workaround for this?
Thanks!
can I choose the default color for all users? (with this mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=158))
for example in summer i wanna change it in peach for all, brown in fall, blue (or default) in winter...
the mods are on all colors of default theme?
thanks
Yes funfan, you can choose (in the admin panel) weather or not the users can change the theme.
If you lock them out, then you can make whichever one you want the global default.

Oh this thread (and the thread with the downloads) is a life saver, new to this only just started as a friend recommended SMF (and tiny Portal) as a good platform for a new site for a project I'm involved in. However some members are attached to a certain shade of yellow (#FFDD00) for their websites (the original website with the TV show that spawned us featured it heavily) and I've been looking for a way to change my site from blue to Yellow (and white text to black so it's readable).
Any chance someone can either PM me some fairly thorough guidelines to making my own variation (which I'll share obviously once I've got it working) or possibly if it isn't too much trouble see me good.
Bad guidelines would be acceptable as well I'm sure I'd figure it out eventually just I'm wanting to launch the site to the public soonish.
Thanks in advance.
I'm having trouble downloading the theme. I've tried a few different times, using different browsers and different computers, but still no luck. Anyone else having this problem?
I'm really jonesing for that black default theme. :D

Does the style.css for any of these variations contain the following area definitions that seem to be missing from the v1.1.4. default style.css?
#upshrinkHeader
#upshrinkHeader2
#bodyarea
#footerarea
And does anyone know why they're missing from the v1.1.4. default style.css?
I don't know if I'm just not able to search for the right words, but does there exist a manual or guide how to convert those old 1.1.x themes into the new 2.0 Beta 3?
In case those are the old default themes I thought it might be easier to convert them instead of other themes.
I'm looking forward for getting some help with this.
Thx a lot
There is no guide because the 2.0 template files are not complete as its beta. There will likely be many changes.

curious do you have permission from Wolfenrook to update his?
Kirschnik
Thank you, it's very useful!
UPD
There is a little problem with changing colors. I've made color changes in style.css, and in 'preview mode' it looks OK, but when I'm loading forum, the main colors (except background and fonts) have not been changed :(
Can anyone help me with that?
And I will be very happy to see a manual about style.css, because now I have to guess what is what in 'preview mode'.
Thank you for these beautiful variations. ;)
Still looking for a default dark yellow theme~ Anyone??
I installed them and they did work perfect now i ran into a problem. I had to move my forum now im getting no images with any of the themes. All i am getting are red X's all over the forum :(
Any ideas ?

Hi I am interested in the color variations for Beta 2.0. I clicked on the link and I do not see anything there. But I do not read foreign languages so I could be wrong.
No you are not wrong, it is a "CON" he just wants members I think 8)
no he actually did do updates but his db went down, ill remove the link now
Hi All,
Any ideas as to when the
Default Theme Color Variations will be back up? and when will they be updated for 1.1.6?
Thanks All.
Hi all,
Never mind, found them ;D
Thanks as always
I would like a yellow default theme, with white where there is white on the Default blue.
Make one. You just need to change a few images, etc.
So, are there any beta2 image packs available yet?
Beta 2? I'm sure you mean Beta 4. Since Beta 2 was a charter release.
Though currently I remember seeing someone make some Beta 4 variations. Though I dunno where they went...

Oops, i meant 2.0 beta
Hello,
Would someone be kind enough to explain how these colour variations work ? Do they become your new default ? and will any packages/mods work without manual installation ?
you simply have to download and install as any other theme, neither package contains any template files so you do not need to do any edits to them, to set as default , you simple do this in the same manner as any other theme.
Do they become the "Default Theme Core" ??
Just to give a bit more information on my concerns. I have made the YABB theme the default for my site readers. But when I add packages like the ad-managment mod and topic tagging mod they do not work on the YABB Classic. They only work on the Default Theme Core.
Sorry if im confusing you, Im confused myself.

No they do not. They independent from it in terms of where the images are stored, but the template files (the .template.php) files remain the defaults.

in 1.1.x line mods only install on default core theme unless the author has set it otherwise, you would need to use the tutorial on how to do it on other thejmes (the tutorial is linked in the stick in the Graphics and Templates Board)
Thanks Guys,
Thats what I was getting at. Its a bit of a pain having to manually install mods and I thought this might be an answer to get a slightly different core default that would allow packages to be installed through package mananger.
I think If I am going to need to do manual installs I will look at a completely different theme.
Thanks very much for your help. Much appreciated
we are here to help :)
I like the default theme because it works with my mods. I would love to have it in like a terra cotta and green or a brown and green. What do ya think?
Now that 2.0 is out of beta can we someone please work on some default colours?
Themes in SMF2 are still going to change significantly. SMF2 RC1 does not mean any of the themes are finalized in any way.
look good
Yellow one would be great/
Someone did a gold one. I think it was Nas but I'm not sure.
Ohh. I want the same yellow as on my site www.tonyperez.biz/community
But, I want all of it yellow, and text blue.
I have downloaded the peach theme, but it didnt seem to come with the CSS file? So it is just showing as the usual blue default theme.
Any help?
if the theme has installed but not installed the style.css just unzip the download package on your computer and FTP the style.css from it to your server to the theme folder
Thanks!
mod: I think I'm getting it all sorted now =]
mod2: nope what I tried didnt work....
Basically my problem is quite clear: www.bellydancedreams.co.uk/forums
so I have the most of the Peach theme installed yet some bits of blue are showing where it shouldn't! I have uploaded the CSS file, and have added the image files that are unique to the peach theme. The reason I haven't uploaded them all is I have to upload manually one by one! I knew which where unique because I downloaded the Mods package and I just reloaded the whole folder with my theme name =]
version 1.1.8
hi these themes are great but i have one problem at the top of my forum it says the name of where you are on the site but for some reason when i use these themes the writing is massive is there a way i can make it samller?

bump
Please don't bump your posts before 24 hours have passed.
I have not experienced this same issue with these, so I don't know if I can help much,
but just to get the obvious things out of the way - do you get any errors in your logs?

hi yes i get this one a lot below
8: Undefined index: url
File: /home/demo/public_html/mydomain/forum/Themes/default/Post.template.php (main sub template - eval?)
Line: 550
Alright. Empty your error log,
run this query in phpmyadmin
INSERT INTO smf_settings VALUES ('disableTemplateEval', 1);
Use your forum for a while, and try to recreate some errors. After you get some new errors,
come back and tell us what the errors say :)
hi i have the shout box working now its just the text size between the shout box and forum where it tells you where abouts you are on the forum i just need to know where to change the size as its huge.
Normally that would be in the css of that theme I think.
hi yes it should be but i am not sure what part to change
Sorry to say, but so am I at the moment, as I can't look it up at the moment...
ok thanks for the replies will have mess with it in a bit see if i can find it :)
How do you get these to work in SMF 2.0 RC1?
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg194.imageshack.us%2Fimg194%2F3161%2Fwhatthemeisthis.th.jpg&hash=84893998a369e1f58e17857e56c1d477eb1e14a2) (http://img194.imageshack.us/my.php?image=whatthemeisthis.jpg)
Ok it's not the same exact set but very similar.
I am curious also. Are these (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=64128.0) compatible with 2.0+?
Thanks.
Search them in the theme site and look to see. ;), There are to many for me to tell you which are and which aren't.
Hallo,
Sorry, aber ich bin in Englisch eine Katastrophe.
Ich wüßte gerne welches der Color-Theme auch für das SMF 2.0RC1.2 kompatibel ist.
These color variations isn't working with RC1.2?
When I try to use theme, an error occurs: "unable to load 'main_above' template"
How do I make it right?
Thats because the theme is made for SMF 1.1.x default.
Well, made one myself :)
hello guys, i want my style.css to be like the Dark theme - green in http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=64128.0
i have uploaded my style.css and images, am using babylon theme 1.1.10
thanks
please an help and assistance will be appreciated.
thanks
Where are default Theme Color Variations
for SMF 2.x ?
Many thanks.
There aren't any yet. You can adapt these ones if you have a little bit of theme knowledge.
Hmm,
why did nobody make yet any color variation for SMF 2.0 RC1 ?
I made a few with other color but have problems with the transparency of a few buttons...
Are there now a few with the right button transparency colors ?
I need dark green buttons instead of the blue ones.
Many thanks.
Regards, Stefan.
Nobody is going to bother making anything for RC1.2 any more, because RC2 will be public shortly.
i just want to be able to change the color of the category line. Its the part of the forum that says the name of the category and the corners are in that category. its the default blue at the moment
can someone help i know it is in css but cant seem to find it i have changed the grid lines to red so i know a little
Look for catbg in the style.css.
Is there now a template for SMF 2.0RC2 from a Default Theme Color Variation
where the enduser can change the color to his own wishing,
so he can store this in his user settings ?
Many thanks.
Regards, Stefan.
Not yet.
why not ?
was this not supposed to be in the final RC2 version ?
1/ 2.0 is not Final yet anyway.
2/ This was never going to be installed by default. It was always planned to have the ability to support multi themes (which we already have), but not to actually have one as part of the 2.0 installation package.
Would be cool to have the default Curve theme with a few color variations,
so that the enduser can himself choose inside the forum, what
his favourite colors are...
Could be stored in his control panel...
I thought this would be in the final SMF 2.0 version integrated ?
I think Joomla also has such a feature and a few other CMS systems..
Why not SMF ?
Has anyone made a version of default using yellow instead of blue?
Thanks, some great basic theme changes
Are these color modifications compatible with SMF 2.0.2?
No. They're for 1.1
Hi,
I've installed the Red variation, but I'm not getting any change in the top panels and background. What have I missed?
Thanks :)
