Hello,
i have a problem when using the converting tool.
I get the folowing error:
Sorry, the database connection information used in the specified installation of SMF cannot access the installation of YaBB SE.
This may either mean that the installation doesn't exist, or that the MySQL account used does not have permissions to access it.
Both forums using the same password (checked in settings.php)
Does someone have some tips for me????
(i doubt on one thing.... the forums connecting with a different dbusername... does that give problems?)
Forum versions:
Yabb SE 1.5.5
SMF 1.0.5
some extra info ;D
when i enter a not existing dbpassword
i get this error:
The database password you entered was incorrect. Please make sure you are using the right password (for the SMF user!)
and try it again.
so i think this means:
- the paths are right
- dbpass of the SMF database is right
but the connection to the Yabb SE still not works
when i was doing test conversions from phpbb to SMF i found that the user/password combination needed access to both databases. so your user/password combination must have permissions to both SMF and Yabb SE. if you are using some control panel access (plesk, etc) then you may have problems with this because they create one username/password combination for each database. if you have access to creating your own users try creating one user that has access to all databases and using that just for the conversion.
okey, thats a clear aswer...
but i'm so lucky that i'm using plesk... and plesk doenst allow me to make the same username..
So is there a workaround?

plesk is great software, no doubt about that. i don't believe there is a way in which you can accomplish creating one account with access to 2 seperate databases in plesk. best way to get up and running is put them both in the same database. they have different table prefixes so you won't have any problems there. =)
Thank you very much... I have done your sugestion and it works perfect
