There is a slim chance that the software would be able to function in just the right conditions, except for the cookies.  There is no way that the cookies would set properly.

oh but what if i use the database driven sessions instead of cookies?
would that work? i am not sure what i am talking about, but i have seen that option in the SMF admin options somewhere.

Quoteoh but what if i use the database driven sessions instead of cookies?

That's not an "instead of" situation.  Database driven sessions store sessions in the database, as opposed to storing sessions in the /tmp folder of your server as flatfiles (text).  They have nothing to do with your login cookies.  Sessions and cookies are two different things.

For your security, your browser will not read a different site's cookie.  So, if your browser is pointed to http://www.site1.com , your cookie from http://www.site2.com cannot be read.  Imagine how much fun script-kiddies could have if they could!
