Simple Machines is proud to present its new website. After months of planning, sketching and painful slave labour under the constant cracking of a whip we're finally able to let all of you enjoy the rich, full flavor of XHTML and CSS. We're confident that you will find the new site to be a lot more usable than our old one.

There is only one thing better that SMF.... Joomla! but I am a little biased. ;)
Good work everyone :)

Looks great... can't wait for the mod site to go back up...
What demands still need to be met??
Mike's negotiating with them as we speak :P
Getting very close. I think they are about to fold on their world domination demand. Once thats done we should be back in business.
And we are done. The mods have agreed to resume their normal duties. To get them to drop the world domination demand we had to promise to make sure the site said up to date. To that end don't be surprised if you see more features creep into the site.
Mods site is back up and running :D :D
Sweet!! Glade to know things are settled.. Looks great...
small detail:
the icon links on the home page (download, customize, features, and support) still go to the sitetest directory. They work, but it seems splintered to me now that the change is live.
2 thumbs way up.....nice job team smf :)

The new and improved search feature for mods works great :D However, if a page has more than one mod, is the title (field) of the first one supposed to use a different style class than the others? It's even more strange that it only happens on page one: http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=search;type=2 vs http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=search;type=2;bool=and;sort=;start=10 (http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=search;type=2;bool=and;sort=;start=10).
The darker background are new mods
Awesome job guys.
Ah... what's the definition of new then?
I'd have to look but I think its submitted within the last 7 days.

beautiful new look... was long overdue but now that the results are here, it looks like it was worth the wait!
Hello. Congrats.
What most of us want to know... Are you using any CMS/portal system?
If so, which one? And will you release it as a mod? ;D

Well the theme for the forum is the stock theme for SMF 1.1RC2.... (from what I see anyway...)
I don't think the rest of the site is avalable for D/L...
What the deuce! I thought I was at the wrong website at first. Looks great though!

obviously. that has absolutely nothing to do with the "portal" this site is using.
An excellent update and reformat. Bravo! ^^
As to the 'portal', I think it's just using the layer system of SMF.
So glad to see the new site up and rolling. I think it looks great and much better than the old one. The modsite is much better also! :)
what I had been asking around has finally been answered.
Thank you, site looks great!
Very nice site. A huge improvement in the visual look etc, and also, from a coding point of view, good to see complete XHTML and CSS compliance on the main site :D
The site is well done, great job devs. As maCe said, it really is a visual improvement. 8)
Nice look...has anyone noticed a lot of the posted code frames are now empty? I had a pic...but can't add attachments...
Jim
great job team. a lot of time and effort has been put into the new site, and it looks simply amazing.
thank you
Looking way better! :o
Great job! ;)
Its simply AWESOME..... Hats off to you.... Gr8 Work Done... Loads of Applauds... Celebration time on SMF. 8)
Great job!!!!!!!!
The front side looks nice..
Keep up the good work :D
Looks good, but with the new theme I keep getting ActiveX warnings on every page. After switching back to the YabbSE Classic Theme, the warnings are gone...
Great job folks. Looks cool 8)
And I was just gonna suggest that you organize the mods page better.
I'm probably going appear unfashionable, but I've never been a fan of fixed width (centralised content) sites. What's the point of having a high-res monitor when a third of the screen width is just colour filled?
AT LAST!!! Perfectly theme in this forum!!! Beautiful...
I first thought SMF 1.1 Final, but not yet, hihihi...;)
Great work!
It's beautiful! :D The team has done a great job on this, congratulations! The new mod site is a huge improvement too, I'm loving it! :D
One suggestion though: woudn't it be better to use the default theme's welcome text next to the user's avatar too? The current one seems empty to me, lots of whitespace.
/me shrinks the header. ;)
I'm really loving it, great job guys! :D I can't say it enough times, lol. :P
We're using the layers system from SMF, so no CMS at all.
Thanks for all the kind words.
As to the ActiveX warnings, those are most likely from the AJAX. Unfortunatly IE doesn't know AJAX's aorta: XmlHttpRequest and those need to go through ActiveX for that "browser". If you would switch to Firefox, or add simplemachines.org to your trusted sites in IE those warnings will disappear...
To prevent the lay-out from braking up in High Resolutions we needed to use a fixed width, sorry about that. But I guess we can't please everyone...
It looks very nice, good work! :)
yet, to be hounest, I prefer the old design over this new one...
The new design is great.
Is the doc site not coming out until the final release of 1.1?
also some of the links (e.g. the faq still link to /sitetest/ which I assume is not intentional
Beautiful site! Absolutely Amazing.
Orange is a colour SMF has been lacking and its now got that!
Shops is cool too! Does remove mod work, didnt seem to.
It's great, I like it a lot :D
Nice job guys... I have to admit, it looks pretty decent.
One issue... I'm getting a headache from scrolling the boards. It seems to blur the lines a bit on my PC using FF 1.5 (It only does it on the boards, not the rest of the site). I wonder if other people have this as well.
Yay! This is gr8 news!! Altho i liked the previous theme more! but this is truly amazing! :)

More functional? How do you mean? We've made huge efforts to increase the usability of the site and make navigation a lot more consisten. What you're saying is the exact oposite of what we want to achieve...
Also, I checked both the features page and the old homepage and there were no links on the features page. And all the links on the old homepage are still present...

There was a page with linkthroughs on key features. I like the old gray color scheme better as well for the record. This looks like an invision rip off forum now, not a unique product.

What do you mean by blurring?
I think they mean that while scrolling the content doesn't just scroll smoothly like it did before, it's kind of jumping up and down a bit, some parts seem to scrool faster than others. At least that's what I'm getting when scrolling in the forum.
A different kind of scroll issue:
Most of the webpages now have a horizontal scroll bar when viewed with IE.
Edit: should have said, 768 x1024 res.
Nice change ;)
Love the new site. Great work guys.

I have the same problem. It's pretty annoying. I use Firefox 1.5 and I think I have found the source of the problem using the "Edit CSS" function of the "Web Developer" Firefox extension.
The problem seems be caused by blue "Back to the top" arrow link in the bottom right corner of the page. The "position:fixed" property seems to cause Firefox to scroll a lot slower. Changing the following line in lay-out.css from:
#toplink {
margin: -1px;
position: fixed;
bottom: 0;
right: 0;
}
to:
#toplink {
display:none
}
seems to fix the display problem for me.
Wow, I like this alot better :)
This is awesome. I like the new design - great job!
One q: what exactly is this "layer" system of SMF?
It alows you to use a template file for both the regular site and the forum or any specific pages.
Simply selecting a new "layer". So you only have to change one file to change the entire site.
HOLY
Looks nice. Would be better if it wasn't fixed width though.
I'd like to congratulate for the new look.
It also pleases me to see that team is working towards meeting the accessibility standards. It is something I was pondering since months.
Hopefully the future releases will have also the themes WAI compliant.
Very well done!
Rudolf

Wow. Excellent work to all involved with the new SimpleMachines design, and congratulations to the team.
This professional new image for SMF gives it a slick look that people associate with the powerful and popular open source products on the web, such as Firefox, Drupal, and Joomla. Ok, I had to throw that last one in ;)
My only gripe would be that a few small things could make the site more accessible, such as access keys and source ordered so that content comes first.
Again, just amazingly well done and I'm sure gives all SMF users a bit of warmth in the cockles of their hearts 8)

Yeah I noticed that too. I had to switch back to the old theme to see them(the stats)... then change back.... My question is about the comic theme... IT sez' there is one user who currently uses that theme? Who is it? :D
Excellent work I can breathe now he he SMF rocks for now!!! ;D
If I might add, this current theme you are using, I really like it but there's just one small thing that prevents me from using it, the nav bar image, if you observer the edges it really makes me want to reach out and smack someone for having such a clean awsome looking template but then they left the navbar hanging...
The nav bar edges looks really rough (unpolished ?) and unprofessional like, or am I the only one who has noticed ?
Seriously, though I hope someone will clean up the nav bar for this template it would make it look so sharp and awsome
all it needs is a once over clean rounded edges or what that intended as part of the design ?
Does this new fantastic theme will be released?
Thanks

Well, I took a look at the current Joomla! site and to be honest, I think they both work very close together and so I can imagine that we have a Joomla! CMS in front. :)

Um I am usually very late in noticing stuff. Because of simple machines forum I set up my forum and just let it run--- it's that easy.
I'm not the best at stuff, but I recommend SMF over others out there. You see- since SMF is easy! That also means I don't come around here often enough!
Great new layouts, and big Thank you to those who have put so much of their time into this!!
What's the deal with the swagshop and run orders ? What happens if a run takes several months because they didn't reach their minimum is SMF going to keep people who paid hanging ? This doesn't seem like a good way to do a shop.
Sounds funny unless i'm not understanding it ;D
i wouldn't want to pay for someting and receive it months later at the latest 3-5 days, a week tops
to pay in adv just to fill a quota/min seems not a good practice is it legal ?
