How you like these? Shall I post these buttons?

Black mini buttons with a 3d effect. They can be used on many different background colors as is illustrated in the screenshot below. The buttons are available in many languages. Let me know when you need a language which is not yet uploaded.

As indicated on the screenshot the font is 04b_08. This is a free font for which you find many download links if you search with google (http://www.google.com/search?q=download+04b_08&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=de&btnG=Google-Suche&meta=).

What is new:
- buttons for RC2 included

- all former upgrade packages have been repacked to one single archive for each language

Made upshrink buttons (icons) in the same style. They are attached to the 1st post. They go directly into the *images* folder (not into the language subdirectory).

What is a no? Currently this is a button set. When I have some time left I will make a full sample theme around these buttons. After the am themes are released. In the meantime you can take the on.gif and off.gif from the good old classic yabbse theme. They go very well with this button set. For on2.gif simply copy on.gif .

I ended up use'n the off and on buttons from yabbse for that reason.  Took some time doing the same with some other topic buttons.

Have a look at the 1st post of this thread. The font is free, you should find many download sites with google.

Hi guys. Andrea the smileys look great. One question: do i have to cut each one out 1 by 1, cuz when i downloaded the file it was one image file with all the images in that one document. Thanks in advance.

lol, i'm sorry. I meant the black button set. They look great, but when i downloaded the first file, all the images were in one document. I'm kinda new at this so bare with me...lol

Right under that image are several links containing the various language archives and some additional archives with fitting icons.

Nevermind, the problem is i don't know how to open a .tgz file. :(

There are several free programs which allow you to unzip tar.gz resp. tgz files. From the download page:

No problem. Can add this button. Have to collect the translation string for this one - is in the language files somewhere - so can take this from there - just have to find the precise location.

In the meantime I have collected some language strings and posted the new beta 5 button (delete selected) and a couple of new extra buttons. The files are attached to the 1st post, look for the file "simple-mini-black-xxx-040516.tar.gz" in your language. The update file was done for all languages which were published so far (english, finnish, german, spanish, dutch).

In addition 2 more languages were uploaded:
- italian
- norsk

Also these files are attached to the 1st post.

Hey Andrea,

Would it be possible to have the warn button, for the warn mod by Grudge,made in this kind of set? I'm asking because i have these black buttons on my forums, and i installed the warn mod. Now the warn button looks out of place, and it would be really cool if they would all match. thanks for making the delete selected and other images that were needed.

If this is possible can you please name the image 'im_visualw.gif'?

I love the Simple black mini buttons and they are going to look great IMHO with my sites look but I added them and I just know I messed something up when I did.

Could someone tell me what I did wrong? I am getting this error. I didn't know if I should add the text file with the graphics so it is in the directories that the graphics are in...

Is it possible that you activated a Beta 6 theme in a Beta 5 board? I once got this "hello_member" error exactly when I tried this out. You can fix it by adding  a $txt['hello_member'] either directly into the index.template.php or alternatively into the language file.

Edit: another explanation is that you have an old language file in your beta 6 board. Also then the solution is the same.

Wow did I need that sleep! Andrea sorry to clutter up your thread with my "inability". The buttons are are the bomb baby and they look stunning. They add the color that was needed to liven up my black white and maroon theme.

Just double checked and the download worked fine for me. Please try again and make sure that you first save the file on disk with file extension .tgz or .tar.gz - then open the archieve file from your local disk.

Somebody else reported a similar problem in another of my button or theme threads. The reason was some firewall setting. Double check the security settings for this site in your firewall and in your browser. Or try to change the browser. Or maybe you can try to download from a different computer such as office computer etc.

hi, i'm trying to open the .tgz file that this download comes in, i'm using picozip to try and extract the files but it's just not working...

i manage to successfully extract any .zip files, but i'm having difficulty with the .tgz

is there anything i'm missing or could be doing wrong?

Try if it helps if you save the archive as ".tar.gz" on your local disk and then open from the local disk. A ".tgz" is the same as a ".tar.gz" - maybe your program does not recognize this.

Only the 2nd, that is an update with new image. The 1st has more.

The archives will be repacked for rc2, with the new mark unread button included. Hopefully I can do this tonight (depends if my girl lets me work...).

P.S. Franco this is an excellent translation of this button text! - I will enter this into the translator and probably switch to the similar wording even in other languages.

Great buttons...on my site credited to you.  Is there any chance for a "Games & Videos" button.  The arcade mod has lots of these...and the closest button in the set is GALLERY.  I tried making one with a blank, but alas, I have no talent.

but to save you time, it comes with the games.gif button.  It would be fine to just have a simple black games.gif...that way the button could get the widest useage...or maybe there already is one, and I missed it.  Current button attached.

Question: How exactly do you install these?

I extracted the archive to /forum/Themes/simple-mini-black for ease of location, and updated the images folder dir in layout options of my board, but only three images actually show up. what am i doing wrong?

yeah, i just had to reinstall and restore my database because of an error. I'm about to reupload the images.

Ok i've reuploaded them, and as a precaution of there being missing images, i copied all of the images from the default theme into the folder where i would upload these. Then, i uploaded them to overwrite the ones that were there, and now there are several images that do not show up, such as the new/no new posts image, status images shown under a person's name (im images, etc.) among other things missing.

That is because the black mini buttons are only the button set - that means they will only replace the "default/images/english" folder and the "default/images/upshrink(2).gif" files. All other images you must leave where they were...

You seem to have moved the "default/images" folder away instead of copied it. Your problem will be fixed when you upload the missing image files again.

i couldn't just use the copy command so i downloaded the folder and uploaded it in a different place :o

so basically all i need to do is save a copy of the old images and put these in their place and i should be fine?

Yes. Only overwrite the buttons (this is the folder "english") and the 2 upshrink icons by the black mini's.


P.S. If you plan to modify more than buttons only then it is strongly recommended to not modify the "default" theme but create an own theme and modify your own custom theme.

Sorry for asking, but could anyone tell me how to extract .tar files? I have searched and read everywhere. I downloaded the norwegian mini-black-buttons and managed to unzip the tar.gz using 7-Zip, but still I would need to extract the .tar in my new folder.

I tried a lot of different commands from the Dos-prompt such as zcat and xvf, but my computer doesn`t seem to recognize these commands. I am confused...

PS! I think I need to be sponfeed on this. lol. Thanks!

Tar files can be open and extracted by winrar if you'd like to try that program.

But the psd files are no necessary, just have to take the "blank" files to fix them... well, thanks to Andrea... I didn't know that there was a version in Spanish, I was translating them... xD

Well, I found some minor errors on the Spanish translation... so I correct them:

• approve.gif ---> In Spanish is "Aprovar" not "Approvar"
• im_visualw.gif ---> Is "Advertir" not "Avertir"
• guestbook.gif --> In Spanish is more common "Libro de visitas" not "Libro de Invitados"
• gallery.gif --> Andrea used "Galeria" but it's "Galería", I'm considering the written accent because she considered it on the others buttons.

in spanish is  not aproVar, but aproBar  :D

I've installed the PDX-DK Theme on my forum, it uses the simple mini buttons but in a "light" version (the same that yours but with a white background). I found a 'readme.txt' file with the .gif pictures with a link to this thread.

For SMF 2.0 there are some buttons missing: moderate, login and register (moderate, login en registreer).

Could someone create those buttons  :P with the button creator they don´t look the same
