Otsikko: Adding Background Music?
Kirjoitti: Nefertirievy - helmikuu 08, 2006, 05:16:05 IP
Okay, I know when I had my previous forum w/ Invisionfree, I could put a music player on the forum, that way members could listen while posting:

http://s3.invisionfree.com/MusicOfTheNight/index.php (http://s3.invisionfree.com/MusicOfTheNight/index.php)

You notice the player on the top of the page.

So I was wondering, since SimpleMachines does seem to be more advanced, can we still do that...or is there perhaps a code to use? I still have the html for the player and songs itself...but just wasnt sure about using it on SMF.

It shouldn't be any problem to add the HTML code in question to a suitable template in SMF. If you want it on top of all pages, then it should probably be index.template.php that you want to add the code to.

Players like this are generally not a great idea because they restart every page load.  The code in your link only works in IE by the way.

You might check this player out: http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=Flash+Mp3+Player

It's free and *very* slick.  Pop it up in its own window when a user clicks "listen" or "play" or whatever and they will be able to listen while they browse.

Well if I use the old one or If I get that program you mentioned, how would I go about getting them to the new forum on SMF, would I be placing it in the index.template.? And where would I put it in that file?

*I'm very cautious now that the forum is running* You could say petrified! ::)
