Evening, all!
I am new to this forum, althoguh not to forums and posting in general.
Here's my issue:
I recently get set up with GoDaddy.com and I created a subdomain to run my SMF forum from.
I've tried a couple of ways to assign my forum to this subdomain, but my attempts have not met with success.
Does anyone out here know how I can get SMF installed/assigned to my subdomain?
Thanks!
Chaz
Here is a SMF running on a subdomain on GoDaddy servers:

How do you try to "assign" a domain to your forum? I cant get it.. :-\
1- Go to your GoDaddy hosting control panel, create a new subdirectory
2- Create a database for your forum from the same place
3- Open your FTP client and upload SMF installation files.
4- Install it...
If you have your forum already installed somewhere, then do the 1st step only.
Then move your files into that subdirectory that will appear in your FTP, and use repair_settings.php to repair your settings.
What is repair_settings.php? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=18096.0)
Thanks, Elmacik. I will get on this tonight.
Elmacik,
I want to thank you very much for your sage advice, but I ended up taking a simpler route.
I did a search on MSN at stumbled across the SMF installation guide and once I read it, I knew what to do.
First, I removed the installation that was put in via the GoDaddy CP and created a databse just for SMF.
I downloaded and installed SMF 1.1RC2 and I have to say, this prorgam is the shiznit! I was able to install it directly into the subdomain I wanted and connect it to the database with no fuss or muss.
There's only a couple functions SMF seems to be lacking and I will post those in the "Wish List" thread.
The default theme is gorgeous, but I will still modify some of the graphics to match the overall look of my site. I am not thinking this will be too difficult as the changes I am looking at are minor cosmetic changes; replace some graphics here and there. ;D
