It would be nice to have a built in link for unread messages which is different from Show unread posts since last visit. It is a very popular feature of phpbb2

also I would love to see Insert URL: http://url (http://url) or URL text (http://url) (alt+w)

I'm not sure what you mean by insert url..

okay an example on phpbb2 you could say, click HERE to send a user to a distination url, however I don't see that functionality in smf or I am just not getting the bb code right.

thanks on the HERE thing, what I am suggesting is that it be added to the mouse over or to the code for the users.

and the ?action=unread, how do we add that to

Show unread posts since last visit. | Show new replies to your posts.

as a permanent option for users.

In index.template.php, find:
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread">', $txt['unread_since_visit'], '</a><br />
Create; and modify where and how you want it to look:<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread;all">', $txt['unread_all'], '</a><br />

Then go into the language file, index.english.php, and create:
$txt['unread_all'] = 'Show all unread posts';
