Otsikko: ad servers and mambo?
Kirjoitti: JCphotog - maaliskuu 05, 2006, 08:53:08 IP
SMF has been great and packed with increadible features.  The only thing it's missing is an ad sever.  I recently installed Mambo for another site on my server.  And it has a nice ad module with a fresh install. I was wondering if anyone has used the mambo ad server module to display banners with in SMF and if so, how to do that?

I don't quite like the Mambo ads module, it's very "plain" - it works, but not as an ad campaign. Instead, use phpadsnew (or some of the many free PHP adservers around). You're able to create a login for each campaign (i.e. the clients who have banners), and they can see stats on their banner, enable & disable, etc etc. You're also able to target you ads, according to date / time / location / own criteria.

It works nicely with SMF as well, just copy the given code for a campaign, and paste it into your template file

One thing which could help though, is a general "place holder". Like in Mambo (PHP-Nuke, Joomla, etc) where you can create a "place holder" anywhere on your site (where the template has space for content), and add extra HTML code.....
