Otsikko: Problem with Setup / Theme Management
Kirjoitti: gChambers - maaliskuu 13, 2006, 05:57:02 IP
SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC2
I have just installed SMF 1.1 RC2 a few minutes ago. Installation went smoothly even though I am not very technical.
However, I now want to change the default theme to the beautiful "amber". Problem is that when I click on the links Configuration/ Current Theme or Configuration/Themes and Layout I get an error message that reads as pasted below. I've not changed any of the files and am not a programmer. I've no idea what the problme might be or how to fix it. Any help will be appreciated. THank you.

Template Parse Error!
There was a problem loading the /Themes/default/Themes.template.php template or language file. Please check the syntax and try again - remember, single quotes (') often have to be escaped with a slash (\). To see more specific error information from PHP, try accessing the file directly.

You may want to try to refresh this page or use the default theme.

Can you please try reloading your Themes.template.php file.

That simple fix did the trick! Thanks.

I have been getting this error a lot lately:
LainaaTemplate Parse Error!
There was a problem loading the /Themes/default/index.template.php template or language file

It has happened 4 times the last week, and is incredibly annoying. It happens with several of the template files, they are somehow trunctated at the end, so the file contains a lot less than it should. Reuploading the files of course makes it work... but I don't get why this happens?

Could it be someone trying to hack the server? What are the most strict CHMOD I can use on the various folders/files?

BTW, only happens to the files in the default template. If manually accessing the forum with theme=2 everything works fine.

Getting kinda sick of visiting my forum and suddenly seing that error, realising all of todays visitors and possible posts are lost... :(

I'm sorry to have to bump this, but it keeps happening! Approx. 1-2 times per week. Is it a serverrelated problem? I know the host isn't the best, but have never experienced something like this before. Anyone have a clue as to where I can start looking for problems?

If your host is "not the best" you should probably look at changing anyway. As long as you have made no changes to your template files the forum should load just fine everytime you load it up.

I would review your permissions and check the you have allowed the folder 755 or 777 permissions depending on what your host allows.
