could sumbody explain to me the difference's between SMF1.0.6 and SMF 1.1.rc2
ive seen sites that use SMF 1.1.rc2 and its looks virtually the same,is there a way to install SMF 1.1.rc2 on a site running SMF 1.0.6 without losing members/posts etc,im currently running SMF 1.0.6 and thinking of changing to SMF 1.1.rc2,do i have to due a fresh install ( and lose all my members and posts etc ) or is there a way of just upgrading and not losing anything,ive already got sum mods installed for SMF 1.0.6 would these also work with SMF 1.1.rc2 or would i have to uninstall them first?,any information or help would be very gratful.

There are too many differences to list here, but you can always read the changelog ;)
If you upgrade you won't loose any members or posts. You will however loose mods, but many mods are also available for 1.1RC2, so you might be able to install them again.
Also note that 1.0.x themes are not fully compatible with 1.1.x
You can take a look at upgrade manual (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=3.0;sort=subject) to learn how to upgrade your SMF 1.0.6 to SMF 1.1 RC2 without any data loose.
Your installed mods on 1.0.6 wont work with 1.1 RC2 since your files will be overwritten by the newer ones. (I suggest uninstalling all the mods before the upgrade, otherwise there may stay some useless trush in the database)
The differences? I believe there are some zillions of topics are around about this :)
1.1 RC2 is very very new and has many new features. And improved for a better performance.
RC2 also has a very better administration panel. (Easier to use and to manage)

Since I have seen you posting in the mambo/joomla discussion board, I will also comment:
Please also note that version 1.1.2 (3.20) of the bridge is required for SMF 1.1RC2.
and the soon to be released version of the bridge will also only work for 1.1RC2.
I will also again repeat what has been said regarding themes and mods...
1.0.x themes are not fully compatibile with 1.1.
You will need to find RC2 compatible themes or you may experience errorlogs... (and won't have the fuill functionality of RC2, either)
and only about 50% of the mods available for the 1.0.x series have been updated to 1.1RC2. (note: mods for 1.1 versions lower than RC2 are also not necesarrily compatible with RC2)
