Otsikko: Simplicity - runaway script (SSI.php)
Kirjoitti: lilqhgal - maaliskuu 23, 2006, 07:42:48 AP
I asked in the gen support forum but they think it's a theme specific issue.  I have SMF1.1RC2 installed, (bridged with mambo but I dont think that really has an issue here).  I was trying to modify the Simplicity theme to work with RC2 and kept having SSI issues where it broke the index page, etc. (yet worked fine other than that).... so I went into the boardindex file and made the path to SSI.php absolute and tried it then.  Next thing I know, I'm overloading the server I'm hosted on, giving the appearance of a DDOS attack against me, and now my host has suspended my acct.  (They may reinstate me, I dont know yet... [they better!!!])  ...  So I don't know why that happened but it really screwed stuff up.  Any idea what happened or how to fix it?  Obviously, I can't use the simplicity theme (which I love btw!) because I have RC2 installed, but I wanted to try and update the theme myself....  ARGH!    :o >:(

I'm sorry, I still don't think it's theme specific.  The fact is when the SSI.php file was called is when the craziness happened.  It didn't matter what theme I was using, it just happened to be the Simplicity theme at the time.  Of course I'm probably wrong, but since it was the SSI.php file that caused the DDOS-like attack, thats why I originally posted in the general support thread....

Normal themes don't use SSI.php. Simplicity does weird stuff and does use it, so I think it most likely is a theme issue.

I understand your point now though sorry.

Try the ssi_examples.php file which is in your forum folder. If that goes well, then something is wrong with Simplicty. If not, its the SSI.php causing trouble.

I haven't looked at the theme for RC2, but including SSI is also done in TinyPortal, a portal mod i am working on, and it works fine on RC2. So i am guessing the theme and/or path to it is the cause here. But try what I suggested if you can.

Well, Bloc, maybe it IS a theme issue, as that ssi_examples file works fine.  It could aslo be some of the changes I made myself.  I tried following the RC1 to RC2 thread and making the changes but I guess that didn't work!  :(  I have completely deleted the files and started anew because every time I tried to work on things I'd overload the server and they'd suspend my account!  :-[

mm. I have running Simplicity on tinyportal.net , but in the 1.1RC1 version. The site is 1.1RC2..so I reckon some of your edits made it go like you describe.
