I've noticed that on some other boards (dare I mention them...?  phpBB...) that rolling over the formatting buttons in the post box brings up a line of text that describes the syntax for the tag.

I've added a number of custom tags to our forum, and some of their optional syntax is not immediately obvious.  To help with the situation, I've included a Forum Primer that tries to explain how the various tags are to be used, but something like this would certainly make the situation even easier—especially for those member that can't be bothered to read the Primer.  ::)

So, how difficult an addition would this be to make?  Has it been done already, and if so, can anyone provide me a link to the snippets?

I've done a bit of searching, but I'm at something of a loss as to exactly what to search for...that might help, too.

Many thanks in advance.

just a theme modification...  fairly simple.

find the sections in the *.template.php file that hold the images you are talking about and add an "alt" tag
