Hey all

I am trying to set up a website and Im very new to SMF. I have SMF up and running no problem it seems but I want to of course modify the theme/style. I've been reading the code in Dreamweaver and Frontpage hoping to figure out what to change to modify the theme to my own personal taste. I figured how hard could it be. Well... lol... I found out how to change some stuff... by stuff i mean visuals... Im not to concerned about anything other than just changing the colors, dimensions and graphics... but for the most part I am LOST.  :o I have downloaded SMFTg but it's not really helping me much because i dont know much about css stuff. My strength is in graphic design not web design so I am a master in photoshop but thats it... Is there some sort of WYSIWYG program t hat works with css and php files? All I really wanna do is change the background colors, make the whole board only 80-85% of the width of the page and centered, add my own buttons, my own bars, my own logo and change various colors through out. Ive been trying to take about the default theme and change stuff in it but I havent figured out how to change the width... well I did change the width of the top title bar but it was aligned left and I couldnt find how to align center.. seemed like it already was if I read the code right... now ya see why i called myself a newb? lol
Please tell me there is some program i can use to simplify my project... I dont care what it costs lol or at the very least can someone direct me somewhere that I can learn how to do what I wanna do?

Thanks in advance
Harv

First I gotta apologize to all. I was so aggravated from my attempts at understanding how to modify themes that I never bothered digging too deep into the forums here before posting my previous question.
I kind of got a better handle on it. I have figured out how to change colors and what not thanks to this tutorial: http://patrick.hardcorecoders.net/tutorials/ which I found linked in the forums. I also found that I could add images as backgrounds anywhere by simply stickin the code in the right area. Cool :)

Now, I am wondering... Im guessin phpbb is the arch enemy here.. but I have seen many forums that use it and they have a feature Id love to know how to do on SMF. When you rollover the posts or different topics in the boards, the background color of each post/board that the mouse rolls over will change to a lighter/darker color. Ive been looking on these forums and I cant find anything about doing that. Does anyone know if its possible and what code to use?

phpBB isn't our enemy, it doesn't even come close to us ;)

What you're asking about rollover backgrounds can be done very easily in css. Basically, you declare hover pseudoclasses for items you want to change. There are thousands of websites about css, so I won't go into details for you.
