Title: Saf-Multicolor
Post by: forsakenlad on March 25, 2006, 08:45:11 AM
Link to the theme (http://themes.simplemachines.org/index.php?lemma=20)

Saf-Multicolor is the successor to the old Saf themes. This new version has a lot of new features which help to ease the customization of the theme such as an integrated color-changer, an option to change the logo or to hide the forum name, a css based menu and a lot more. It also comes shipped with a lot of pre-made color variations.

This is by far, the best theme for me. Just a problem:

Title: Re: Saf-Multicolor
Post by: J. Williams on April 04, 2006, 02:21:16 PM
I do not consider that a problem. Just ask forsakenlad for a display.template.php with page numbers both top & bottom of topic.

Post by: rafAdore on April 05, 2006, 12:39:48 PM
Well, if that was the intention, i don't know, and love saf themes; but when you read a large topic and need scrolling up for navigate throught the thread, it's a problem for me (and the users). I think it's a common rule in every forum.

I don't want to disturb forsakenland with PM's, so if someone could help me with the code i'll be grateful :)

Somebody?

I found this in Display.template:

// Show the page index... "Pages: [1]".
echo '
<table width="100%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" border="0" class="tborder" style="margin-bottom: 1ex;">
<tr>
<td class="catbg" width="100%" height="35">
<table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" width="100%">
<tr>
<td>
<b>', $txt[139], ':</b> ', $context['page_index'];
echo '
</td>
<td align="', !$context['right_to_left'] ? 'right' : 'left', '" style="font-size: smaller;">
                                        <div class="btns">
                                        <ul>';

mmm... i guess that is the problem...  i noticed that i can't acces to topics, but i have no problems if i click on forums or subs... i will use it only as a-page-before-the-subforums they are nice ordered and colored. No topics will be in this page...

(i hope i wont have any problems)

Package updated and all the problems addressed above have been solved. Most of the errors were showing up because you were using this theme for SMF 1.0x which it isn't compatible with.

Also when I click the subject title of a pm it takes me to my forum root directory and not to the pm - I'm using this template in a joomla and don't know if it's the bridge component that is causing this issue.

If someone could confirm if they are having this issue it would be much appreciated! ;)

Très bon thème, je me suis permis de faire une traduction française pour smfRC2.
La traduction s'installe à la manière d'un mod pour smf.

Very good topic, I allowed myself to make a French translation for smfRC2.
The translation settles with the manner of a MOD for smf.

All my excuses for my English I use a translator on line.  ;)

This is happening because you are using a different language other than English, I will post the strings for all willing to translate so that I can include the translations by default in the next version.

Great theme however I would prefer to use images as buttons rather than text with css background like the 1.0 version you released.

Is it possible to do this?
Title: Re: Saf-Multicolor
Post by: forsakenlad on May 28, 2006, 11:06:04 AM
It is possible of course, check the 1.0 version template files (Index, MessageIndex and Display) and copt the button templates from those files to the 1.1 template files.

Love this theme even tho it is very basic it's exactly what I want,

However while editing it slightly to suit my needs Ive come across a part that I just cannot see for the life of me, the profile coloum on the left which displays the avatar and profile icons, I would like to extend that so my members can have avatars with a width of 150px, at the moment it adds a scrollbar at the bottom which does'nt look that great.

If you could point out where abouts and in which file I need to edit that would be a massive help and very appreciated. ;)

Davidhinds,go to the display.template.php and look for avatar until you get one that has overflow in a code before it :P & do that for body :P

Hi, a little question:

- How to disable/remove the user info at the top? (all of this (http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/1673/argsd2ze.jpg), maybe leaving date & hour and moving right) (thanks for the image, grizado :-)

I've tried to modify some code but forum crash.  >:(

Thanks in advance.

That wappens because the smf layout is bigger than the joomla wrapper layout!

em portugues* aconselho-te a desactivares os modulos da direita do joomla quando tens o forum! Ou então tens de diminuir o tamanho da theme do smf

nop, even if i deactivate the left and right columns in forum view i get the same layout problem. My forum width is 100% but if i change it to 90% or 800px the problem is still there.
It seems to me a missing <br>.

i also get this errors in the w3c validator

This page is not Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional!

Below are the results of checking this document for XML well-formedness and validity.

   1. Error Line 78 column 8: end tag for "br" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified.

        <br>

      You may have neglected to close an element, or perhaps you meant to "self-close" an element, that is, ending it with "/>" instead of ">".

   2. Info Line 78 column 4: start tag was here.

Hi -

This theme is great and very easily customizable.  However, I have one little problem.  The image buttons for "go up" and "go down" aren't showing up.  It just shows an indented box with a red "x" and the button text.  Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?

Thanks,
DeAnna

Aloha just wanted to know if any thought was given to this.  It would be very nice to have for long threads.  When I used saf-grey it had this feature.

Thanks and good stuff!! :D

This is what appears when I click on the link for 'reading most recent posts'...    The images that are missing are all linked back to this folder which doesn't exist... /forum/Themes/safmc10111/images/english/graphic.gif

The page is: http://www.mysite.com/forum/index.php?action=recent

Any suggestions or assistance is appreciated.

I really love this theme - I am using a slightly modified version of it here www.cache-community.co.uk/forums

Everything seems to be working fine on the front end, but after checking my forum error log the other day i discovered 1.7GB of errors.

There are 2 main errors that occupy most of the log, and they are as follows

8: Undefined index: smfVersion
File: /home/cacheec/public_html/forums/Themes/safmc101/index.template.php (eval?)
Line: 325

and

8: Undefined index: avatar_action_too_large
File: /home/cacheec/public_html/forums/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 3115

below are the corresponding files if anyone (forsakenland) can please help:

safmc101/index.template.php

// Version: 1.1 RC2; index

/* This template is, perhaps, the most important template in the theme. It
contains the main template layer that displays the header and footer of
the forum, namely with main_above and main_below.  It also contains the

the linktree sub template, which sorts out the link tree.

The init sub template should load any data and set any hardcoded options.

Sources/Subs.php - This file is too long for me to include in this post so I have attached it to the post instead.

Help here would be appreciated, as I cant afford for my DB to fill up to 1.7GB again.
Thanks in advance.

Try replacing all the files in the Sources directory with clean files (meaning the original SMF files)

Good job on this on forsaken.  I only just noticed you'd added the multicolor to it (yeah, I've not been paying enough attention for awhile), and it is great you did that.  Good clean theme :)

How do I allow users to select a different color?  Do I have to upload this theme one time for each color?

Sorry for abuse but it's again me  :o one of my members found a problem today, i didn't noticed it cause i use firefox :)

if i click on "Show unread posts since last visit."

It's missing following images:

Themes/safmc101/images/english/new.gif
Themes/safmc101/images/icons/show_sticky.gif
Themes/safmc101/images/english/markread.gif

So in IE it shows alot errors, also i noticed there aint /english directory at all, what's wrong please ?  :-[
I have this problem too.

Why are there missing images anyway, shouldn't they be text buttons, like the rest?

Wonderful theme. I really like it.
But theme has one problem. Page with unread topics (Recent.php) doesn`t adapted for this skin and there are some visual bugs in this case...
1. Missed icon "new" (still required by default Recent.php) instead of text-icon.
2. Missed icon "Mark all as read" instead of text-icon.
3. Missed styling for top and bottom areas with "Page: 1 2 3 4"

I think Recent.php should be also included in skin.

This same thing is happening to me when I try to change the color to yellow. I haven't tried changing the width yet but I bet i'll have the same problem.

I want to find a real way to do this other than copying the yellow's css over the default.

Hi guy's. I'm still really loving this theme, although I ran a page through the w3C validator the other day and got the following error
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.cache-community.co.uk%2Findex.php%3Faction%3Dregister&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline

I'm not sure if the problem is resulting from the template or the SMF source. I can see from the error that a double-quote needs closing somehow, but I just dont know which line of which file to look at. Could anyone please help me track down this line of code so that the page will validate.

Help will be truly appreciated.

Regards
Cache-man

This theme should work on SMF 1.1 RC3, just put in the 1.1 RC2 -> 1.1 RC3 modifications on it :P

I'm sure Forsakenlad will find time to make an updater :P

I tried to update this RC2 theme based on the informations posted here (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=104247.0). But it seems like this theme is very different from the default theme, because I can't find all the lines that should be modified. Does anyone can help me ?
Title: Re: Saf-Multicolor

great theme - been playing with it for a few days now, after jumping into 1.1 RC3. yep. it works on RC3.

my issue is that i just integrated G2 successfully, and now i need a Gallery button. Unlike the 1.0.x version that has a gif button that i can easily assign and display on the index page (by adding it to the index.template.php file), this version uses CSS to create those buttons. Can anyone point me on how to do this?

now just so i can give everyone a headstart, this is what ive done in my ongoing search:

essentially you have this line of code:

// Show the [help] button.

echo '<li><a' , $current_action == 'help' ? ' class="active"' : '', ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=help">' , $txt[119] , '</a></li>';

by simply changing help to gallery, the link now takes you to the gallery page you installed.

// Show the [gallery] button.

echo '<li><a' , $current_action == 'gallery' ? ' class="active"' : '', ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=gallery">' , $txt[119] , '</a></li>';

problem is, i dont know the corresponding $txt of the gallery link to now display the word "gallery" instead of "help". $txt[119] corresponds to the word "help", just as $txt[103] equals "home", etc. Whats the $txt[ ? ] for "gallery"? Im sure that if it doesnt exist, then it can be created, where i can assign a number to the word "gallery".

im sure there is a file that has this, where it assigns a $txt number that corresponds to gallery, or a file where i can assign a $txt number so it will display the word "gallery".

i just cant figure out where that file is. if some one can shed a light to this, it can be helpful in the future, say, someone wishes to add a button for a "store", or "blog", or whatever else links you may want to add.

im a total CSS n00b, so pardon the question. but i certainly would appreciate if anyone knows the answer.

thanks again!

well, i found out how to do it. :)

its been a very informative research to get this theme and SMF+G2 to work.

thanks for a great theme to build on, Forsakenlad!

The theme is good. I'm using it. It seem to have very few bugs. However my forumers are found one and are bugging me to solve it.

The problem is:

In "Recent Posts" page in all the links> remove, reply,reply with quite, notify of replies all of the posts have the same link.

Pls find it at

Thanx.

Has anybody experienced problems with this theme wrapped in firefox?

Click "forums" at the top menu link:

http://meangreenhoops.com

IE it is fine, but Firefox it causes the menu to be "broken".

hmm..got a strange problem. I've installed this theme, and when i go to the admin board in current theme, the CSS is asking for a Style.css. About the different colors it says they are not writable, but all are ch modded to 777.
I thought to be smart and made a copy of a style and renamed it to Style.css. But with the selector of colors its pointing to a original colorstyle.
Oke, i can reach it by FTP for changes, but it want the adminboard to work perfect....... Anyone an idea? The board is 1.1 rc2

Aloha,
Would it be possible to get 'go up' and 'go down' buttons on the threads themselves.

Also great work!!

Could someone tell me how to do this manually, because it's still not included.

Is this getting updated to RC3?

Also i was wondering how i add a login box thing on main forum index?
So people don't have to click the login button then fill in there details then click login again.

Also Updater for RC3 would be awesome :-)

Edit - Quick login was there, i just moved the code to the top of the board under the main menu links. www.saclan.co.uk/smf/index.php yay

Before I switched to 1.1 today, I used the older version of this theme. What I loved most about that theme, was that I could replace the images with text links instead. With this version, the text links still apear as some kind of image and I have no clue how to change it. If anyone has any kind of suggestion or can help me out I would be forever grateful. Cause I really, really adored the previous theme but can't really appreciate the new features

Hi, just wanna let you know I'm using your theme at my forum.
I like the multi-colors but too bad, my members can't change the colors they want since I've set the settings for admin only.
I actually meant the members not to see the other themes, and not the colors from your theme :(

BTW, I'm thinking of adding a media player to my forums.
Any suggestions where I could add it?
Maybe at the navigations?

Here's my forums: http://simplydongwan.xionize.com/forums/index.php

Yesterday I decided to upgrade my forum from 1.0.9 to 1.1.1 but I'm not very happy that I did as I wish I could still use the buttons in my forum instead of the textlinks and it's far too complicated to figure out how to do so.

Currently I'm still using the old template with 1.1.1 which of course causes some problems. Forsakenlad, is there a chance you upgrade this theme to 1.1.1 and also give the option to use buttons (like I'm using now) instead of textlinks? It would make such a difference and as I'm using this theme for over a year now I don't want to change too much. Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Stuart

It is possible of course, check the 1.0 version template files (Index, MessageIndex and Display) and copt the button templates from those files to the 1.1 template files.

I don't understand how to do this at all unfortunately. Is there any chance you can help me with this please?

I'm using an old version of the SAF theme where the buttons are just images and not rollovers...

My SAF theme is highly customised so I can't really go about upgrading, would someone be able to tell me how I can manually install the new image with text rollover buttons?

Hello everyone, the Saf themes have been updated for 1.1.1, new users just install the new package file, existing users please unzip the package and then upload the files over your old theme folder.

This is happening because you don't have English set as your default language and I haven't included your language spesific files in the original package. To be able to use it, add ;language=english to the end of the URL in your address bar.

Also I'd be glad if you can translate the files included in the languages folder to your language and send them to me so that I can include in the next release.

I have fixed the issue in "Recent.template.php" with this patch "unreadreplies.patch" :

Thanks for reporting the bugs guys. I'll be updating the theme with them included and release a mod that will update the old theme for ones who have customized it.

Is this theme TinyPortal ready?

BTW, if anyone wants to know how to do minor changes in this theme like making the forum name clickable, adding Google ads and changing the separator character in the breadcrumb, have a look here (http://www.scriptful.com/index.php?board=8.0).

Well it looks like this forum integration is not "perfect".
I think if you want to use this theme/forum inside your CMS you will need to edit the theme.

A dirty hack to fix your issue is to do the following:

Edit index.template.php from the saf theme on ~ line 310

        // Show the menu here, according to the menu sub template.
        template_menu();

        echo '
        </div>';

        // The main content should go here.  A table is used because IE 6 just can't handle a div.

        // Show the menu here, according to the menu sub template.
        template_menu();

        echo '
        </div><br><br>';

        // The main content should go here.  A table is used because IE 6 just can't handle a div.

I added 2 html breaks so the forum should look ok. This is a dirty HTML hack which actually should be fixed by fixing the CMS and Forum Theme.

Hope it helps.

I've been working with this theme for a few months and I like it a lot. I've got it in a Joomla! site, but not using a bridge, just tweaked the styles so they look the same.

The forum is at notaussiefloyd forum (http://www.notaussiefloyd.com/forum)

You can see the main web site by clicking the Web Site Home link at the top of the page.

Does anyone know how I can make the sticky posts stand out more? I want them to appear as they do on this site: they have an extra pine, and the links are bolder than the normal, non-sticky posts.

Any help is appreciated!

I really like this theme.  I'm setting up a new Forum & was wondering if there is a way to make the Top colour & Footer colour finish at the same place as the inner border.

So basically Header & Footer have white background behind and chosen colour to same width as Board info.

I'm having a problem with this theme. When ever I use it, for some reason the text from   don't load at all. Right now I'm using the Arcade mod and the Admin section and other things for it don't load. Or any other text from the file.

Hello,
I have a problem with this theme and IE7. When I open topics, IE shows error "object required" in line "document.getElementById("quickmodSubmit").style.display = "none";", here's the fragment of the code from the SAF template:

if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
showModifyButtons();
// ]]></script>
<div class="msgmod"><ul></ul></div>
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"><!-- // --><![CDATA[
document.getElementById("quickmodSubmit").style.display = "none";
// ]]></script>
</form>

There's no such problem in Default theme, also I reinstalled SAF and this problem is still there. As far as I can tell there's no problems with look or functions (might be wrong) but I'd like to fix this anyway...

No such problem in Firefox. Also, in IE it only shows up in topics, not in board index, not in topic index.

On another note, "Online/Offline" text in posts does not vertically align itself in Firefox, but it does in IE.

Not related to my question: I like this theme you use a lot, because of the menu. Looks much better than buttons, that should be added to SAF  :D

 In the navigation linktree, there's no closing bracket when posting replies. Like this:

Forums | Subforum | Topic | Post reply (Re: topic

OMG! No bracket at the end! How do I fix this?

Edit: nevermind, it was missing this portion of code for whatever reason:

      // Show something after the link...?
if (isset($tree['extra_after']))
echo $tree['extra_after'];

I'd appreciate some help in making all new posts in bold for this theme.

I've been trying to do it following the tread Styling 'new' posts and changing sticky topics (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=173212.msg1337084#msg1337084), but I really can't get anything to work, and I really don't have a clue what to do other than fiddle around.

Can someone suggest where to make those changes for this theme, or suggest something else that would work?

Thanks, Jacque

Mods and packages only install and work for the default theme.  You must (almost always) manually install the packages for them to work with any other theme.

Are you using the default messageindex.template or have you made any custom changes to it? If yes send me your messageindex template so we can sort it out.

Hello,
I have a problem with this theme and IE7. When I open topics, IE shows error "object required" in line "document.getElementById("quickmodSubmit").style.display = "none";", here's the fragment of the code from the SAF template:

if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
showModifyButtons();
// ]]></script>
<div class="msgmod"><ul></ul></div>
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"><!-- // --><![CDATA[
document.getElementById("quickmodSubmit").style.display = "none";
// ]]></script>
</form>

QuoteI've been working with this theme for a few months and I like it a lot. I've got it in a Joomla! site, but not using a bridge, just tweaked the styles so they look the same.

The forum is at notaussiefloyd forum

Not related to my question: I like this theme you use a lot, because of the menu. Looks much better than buttons, that should be added to SAF  :D

I'm having the same exact problem with IE7.  Can anyone help me resolve this as I really want to use this theme.

Thanks!

Locate your themes/default/languages/modifications.english.php file copy the contents of the file and add them to the end of themes/saf/languages/modifications.english.php file :)

I'll release it when SMF goes semantic (that means hopefully soon).

Can someone please help me out with this - this thread seems to be discussing the issue I have.

I have SMF v1.1.6 install and  latest Saf-Multicolor (downloaded today 12th Oct) theme installed.
When I go to theme settings - the "Theme Options and Preferences" dropdown shows nothing. And I am guess it is mean to show the stylesheet colour scheme options.

How can I get that drop down to work?

If you are using utf8, try to switch to english and retry it.

I feel -really- stupid asking this, I am just not computer savvy at all.. But how do I install it? I downloaded the zip file, and then I go to "Install a new theme", right? Click the "browse" button and what file do I upload exactly? The whole zip file or something in it, unzipped? .. :-[

Is there a way to change the table width of the forum so it's not so much blank space on either side of table?

What does that mean? Does that mean when it comes out of beta you'll port it?

Clickable Logo:

I really love this theme, but hope for a little help in terms of adding a feature:

Is there any way to make the logo image on top of the forum clickable, so it directs to an URL you enter?
e.g. a link back to your homepage?

I know I have to add some code to the index.template.php but I hae no idea what to change.
Any help would be aprreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi, sorry to revive an old topic, but I was wondering if anyone had managed to figure out how to get the colour selector to display to forum members, rather than just in the admin panel?

Many thanks.
