I wrote a tool a while ago and I'm wanting to integrate it with SMF all I need is the SMF user name so was thinking it may be possible via cookies.
As the cookie is stored in my client cooky folder www.mysite.com I have noticed in the client cookie are stored as ascii
usercookie[username]

www.Mysite.com
The tool that I wrote stores some information in by member name and resides on a completly different server and platform to my SMF server.
All I want to be able to do in using vbscript it to request the SMF cookie for the SMF user name and assign it to a var.
First question is : Is is possible to read in client cookies from external sites.
Second Question how : ???
Much appriciated if anyone can help me here, it will save me hours of frustration.
Cheers

Just done some more searching and looks like I can't pass cookies :(
found this on a cookie FAQ
The main limit on retrieving a cookie is that you can only retrieve cookies that are valid for the document your script resides in. That is, a script on www.myserver.com cannot read cookies from www.yourserver.com. This is also true for subdirectories within your site. A cookie valid for /dirOne cannot be read by a script in /dirTwo. This is mainly governed on the browser side, as browsers know the URL that they are accessing, and only transmit cookies for that server across the connection.
