i know this is a bit of a different topic... but how do I change where the "Home" button goes to? and also, when setting up SMF I recall an area to enter a slogan for the board/site/company. How do I get back to there to enter that? I didnt enter it at first because I had no clue as to what I wanted it to be at the time.
Admin -> Server Settings for the slogan...
As for the home button, the home button will always go to your forum home. You can modify the templates as you like though. Index.template.php is where the navigational menus are.
Where is the "Email Your Members" link in the administration page?
if I understand your question correctly...
it is in the lower lefter in the section called Member Controls. Its second from the bottom there.
Admin => Main => News & Newsletters => Newsletters
There you can opt to send a mass email to everyone on your board.
I dont see an area in "Edit Server Settings" for a slogan.
I have found the code in index.template.php where the home button is... but i cant figure out what part of it specifies where to go when the home button is activated

yes I know HTML but whats that $scripturl, there?
can I just change it from:
<a href="', $scripturl, '">
to
<a href="http://www.domainname.com">
or must I do something with that $scripturl?? thats where I am confused.
$scripturl is set a few lines up... and it's just the domain and such.
Replacing with what you have will work.
