Beautiful theme. Especially the buttons are awesome!

P.S. How would you feel about replacing my aqua on/off gifs by something in the same metallic style as the other theme graphics are? For example those (or something similar to those) which are attached to this post?

Looks real good! Guestion, is that themes lang files somehow differend? Or why there are lang folder in that package etc? There are also every template file, did you change those all? Because if you changed example only index.template.php, then that is only file what should be in that theme folder. SMF get rest in default folder, so you dont need copy every file in there ;) Thats the beauty of the theme system ;D No need to put that much stuff in theme folders.

So...I tried to install this theme, but I just end up with a blank theme or something. Then when I try to go and edit the index template it says that it can't find the file! I also can't find the files that are supposed to be installed...I think I'm going to install this one manually? Why won't it let me install it correctly? :P

edit: ok, it works with the theme installed manually....very wierd, eh?

Thanks for the tip Owdy
I've done some changes in some templates as well as the style sheets but not in langs files .. that was done quick as I said. Just want to share what I have done with others. well .. I was lazy to check which ones had changed so I've packed everything  :P

Why not use the method I described earlier! .. as I said I have not installed the theme on a working SMF .. I was only following [unknown] guide-lines in preparing a theme package .. I thought tar-ing the theme will do the trick of installing it.

This might be a bug. I tried to install a theme on someone's board from a zip file on my computer, and it just created the database information for that theme, and didn't create any of the directories or files. I had to use Net2FTP's "upload and unzip" feature to install the theme.

It doesn't unzip zip files, sorry.  Too proprietary.

I've had a problem getting it to accept a theme directory that's been uploaded too. I had to create a new theme, and then point that theme's paths to the path of the theme I wanted to use. ???

It does gzip'd files.... tar.gz.

Ah. Thanks for that useful info. Fortunately, WinZIP supports that format.
Title: Re: Spaceman Theme for SMF1b4
Post by: Oldiesmann on March 28, 2004, 09:08:48 PM
Ok... tried installing it from the tar.gz file and it did the same thing - created the appropriate database info but didn't create the directory. I think that's definitely a bug. Everything is chmodded to 777.
Title: Re: Spaceman Theme for SMF1b4
Post by: [Unknown] on March 28, 2004, 09:10:55 PM
I didn't say it just extracts a tar.gz there, rather it needs:
  - a theme_info.xml file.
  - zlib support.

If it did the database stuff, but not the files, then one of those wasn't there.

And I know it works, because I've used it.  Does it actually say "Installed Sucessfully"?

Title: Re: Spaceman Theme for SMF1b4
Post by: Oldiesmann on March 28, 2004, 09:34:54 PM
Yes it does say "installed successfully".

I ended up installing this theme the hard way again - splitting it into 3 zip files (main files, languages and images) and uploading/unzippng them one archive at a time with net2FTP, then installed the theme from the admin center.

EDIT: Ok. Found the problem. The $txt['theme_current_settings'] line was missing in Admin.english.php for that theme.
Title: Re: Spaceman Theme for SMF1b4
Post by: Oldiesmann on March 28, 2004, 09:48:32 PM
I know I've got the zlib thingy because I was able to successfully unpackage a bunch of avatars that I got from your "test" package server [Unknown]. As for the theme_info.xml file... that's included in the package... My problem is it isn't creating the directory or un-archiving the archive.

PS - Sweet theme! :)

One last thing... If you're using this theme on a Beta 4.1 board, you'll have to add some more language strings to Profile.english.php because there are some new ones that aren't in Beta 4.0...

If you add entries to language files, try to add them in Modifications.LANGUAGE.php.  Then you don't have problems like this. (just don't include any other language files.)

I feel it, actualize the forum, but to me clik in Showing Permissions continues leaving the same error ,when giving, track User , track IP

An error has happened!

The group could not be loaded ' showPermissions'.
The group could not be loaded ' trackuser'.
The group could not be loaded ' trackIp'.

Didn't we have this already Lamper? You asked this already for my files via pm and I explained already weeks ago how to use a decent zip program which is able to unzip tar.gz files.  The format "tar.gz" is a standard compression format which can be unpacked on any operating system and there is no need to replace this by something else. Whereas "zip" is only windows format and cannot be unpacked on all unix system types.

Here is the mentionned pm quoted again:

Quote from: andrea
In order to unpack tar or gz files you can use one of the tools described on the download page:

QuotePlease choose one of the downloads below.  These files are all compressed, and bzip2 gives the best compression of the three.  To open bz2 or gz files on Windows, please try either UltimateZip, 7-zip, PowerArchiver, or StuffIt Expander. On Linux, you can use bzip2 or gzip, and on a Macintosh, StuffIt Expander is available.
The popular WinZip can be used for zip and usually gz as well.

I can recommend WinZip or Powerarchiver both:

You must be using an ancient version of Winzip. The two most recent versions (8 and 9) have supported tar.gz files with no problems whatsoever. I think version 7 did too, but can't remember. Upgrade at http://www.winzip.com

Also, if you want a great FREE zip program, check out www.ultimatezip.com. Supports an astounding 16 archive formats including .rar, .tar, .tar.gz and .tar.bz2.

Question about the Spaceman Theme.  I used the Spaceman as a base Theme for the following url: http://www.humsci.auburn.edu/forum (http://www.humsci.auburn.edu/forum).   What I really want to do is change the windowbg color to the windowbg2 color under the topics.   On the starting board homepage it is exactly what I want, but when I go to a child board the colors in the second table are reversed.  ANY help would be appreciated.
