Otsikko: rc1 to rc2 upgrade problem
Kirjoitti: TID - huhtikuu 10, 2006, 02:53:57 IP
SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC1
Hi,

rc1 was running ok, downloaded the rc2 upgrade, uploaded the files via ftp, set permissions ran upgrade.php which told me language files were out of date. Downloaded files and uploaded them. Upgrade seemed to go ok until I went into admin, when moving around in admin some of the links just took me back to the home page, and some gave strange error messages. Deleted the whole install and started from scratch with rc2 install, all seemed to go ok until I got the message telling me I was trying to use an rc1 database with rc2 and running upgrade.php might cure it. What upgrade.php did was return me to the previous state of error messages and strange behaving links. deleted the whole lot and reinstalled rc1, everything works just fine again. Anyone else had anything like this?

TIA

Hard to say without seeing the actual error message(s) you received.

Returning to the index page is usually an indication that index.php is out of date, although the upgrade shouldn't let you continue if it isn't up to date. Have you tried installing 1.1RC2 from scratch?

Yes, I that's when I got the message about using a rc1 database in rc2 and telling me that running upgrade.php might cure it. It didn't it just took me to the same state I was in when I first did the upgrade.
