Followed all upgrade proceeders in the online manual and got this error

What version of SMF were you using before the upgrade?
Can you post a link to phpinfo.php?
What is phpinfo.php? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=18250.0)

Where did you add this? ini_set('session.use_trans_sid', 0);?

It should be in index.php right after <?php

It should be like this

<?php
ini_set('session.use_trans_sid', 0);

Check if that fixes the issue.

If that doesn't work give the .htaccess file another shot.

well did the index.php. querystring.php and the htaccess and still got the same error so just going to restore with the backups and leave as it was. Will try and see if the mods I want to install will work and if not then I'll just have to do without them. Wish I knew all this about the different versions before all the work got done that we have accomplished so far. Thanks for all your help Jay. Was worth a try. Guess I'll have to wait to see if the meods work if they don't then will have to wait till someone makes some that will work on 1.0.7
