Hey!
I've been trying to make my own forum state icons but they don't really look that good.
I use Photoshop and was wondering if someone could help me make a set of 3 forum state images. What I really want to know is how to get that 'faded' sort of effect.

cool source : you need to use a gradient tool if you can't do it i can if you like :-[
OK, so you mean I'd need to use say a dark blue to grey gradient for the first (on.gif), then a lighter blue to grey gradient for the second (on2.gif) and finally just a grey color for the third (off.gif)?
This would be all good for the background, but what about the text?
Or should I set the layer mode of the gradient to 'overlay' and keep it above the text?

You might find this (http://www.zimmertech.com/tutorials/paint-shop-pro/8/aqua-button-tutorial.php) tutorial on creating 'aqua' buttons in PSP useful as well as it can be used to give a nice glassy effect to graphics.

yeah you could change the layer mode for the text :P hope it works if you have problems post them i see what i can do ;)
