Otsikko: Getting very frustrated - attempting to install SMF 1.1 RC2
Kirjoitti: Lyrehc - toukokuu 03, 2006, 01:51:56 IP
SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC2
I'm setting up a new forum and would like to run SMF 1.1 RC2.  I've been working on installation since Thursday of last week.

My steps so far:

1) Downloaded the .zip of SMF 1.1 RC2 - when I finished FTP I typed in my domain (www.clovercuties.com/community/install.php) and got an HTTP 404 error.  I then went through and changed the CHMOD for the list of files that are stickied at the top of this forum (except for packages/server.lst which was not in the zip).  Nothing worked.

2) I decided to change my approach, use Fantastico through my web host's cpanel, install version 1.0.5 which is what is offered there, and then upgrade. When I did this I first got the copyright violation message.  Once I figured that out, I got a database error and could not figure out what was causing it, even though I went through the upgrade file by file to make sure that something didn't get dropped during FTP

3) I then deleted everything from the Fantastico install, and decided to try a clean install of SMF 1.1 RC2 again, but this time I downloaded through tar.gz instead of .zip.  Once again, everything uploaded, and I got an HTTP 404 error.  I went through the CHMOD process (once again not having the packages/server.lst file) and still have the error.  Every single file that was extracted to my computer has been transfered to my server, so I'm not sure what is going on.

I'm not sure what I'm missing.
