Otsikko: Users Can't Logout
Kirjoitti: drummergirl - toukokuu 04, 2006, 10:41:47 AP
I have Bridge 1.1.4 installed with Joomla 1.0.8.  The only issue I seem to have is that my users cannot log out.  I have tested this on both IE and Firefox and when clicking on logout, the user is taken to the SMF forum and gets the message:

Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

The only way to force a logout is to clear the cookies.  This is 100% reproducible and I have to clear the cookies every time just to logout.  Is there something I need to change to fix this?

Just noticed one other oddity.  I came back to my site after about two hours and it still showed me logged in.  I hit refresh on my home page and it showed me as logged in but one of my modules disappeared - one that is only supposed to show when I am logged in.  I refreshed again but it was still missing and SMF still showed me as logged in on the module display.

Next, I took a look at BSQ stats in the backend.  It shows my IP address as accessing the site, but *not* logged in.  So I AM logged out, but my frontend still shows me as logged in on the module.  Clicking logout just gives me the same error message as mentioned above and does NOT log me out - at least it doesn't show me as logged out.  If I clear all cookies and refresh, I get logged out.  Once I log in, BSQ stats shows my IP address as logged in (ie - my user name shows up next to my IP address under the summary tab).

Got one more issue now...I have a couple of users that are posting on the forum right now...it shows them online in the smf where it shows "[member names] and 1 Guests are viewing this board."  But in the who's online module - they don't show up.  I do see two other users in that module tho, plus me.  I show up in both.

Make that two issues - just got a topic reply and when I click the link it just goes to my home page - not the forum.  The link looks like this: http://girlscantwhat.com/index.php?option,com_smf&Itemid,174&topic,15.new/topicseen,topicseen#new#new

Is all this related?

I can see what the problem is there, but I can't say how to fix it without seeing your session table.  Do you think you could PM me access to PhpMyAdmin?

This is most likely unrelated.  Unless, of course, you did not uninstall bridge 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 before trying to install 1.1.4....

Well - entirely possible that an earlier bridge did not completely uninstall - is there a way to rectify it?   :-[

Will PM the access...

Thanks.  :)

All should be working now?

Ok - I can log out, but when I click the login button (with my username and password still in place), it says password failed.  If I click the same login button again without changing anything - it logs in  ?!?!?

I tried this several times and I get the same result using firefox.  Same thing happens in IE.

How's that then?

That did it!  Checked in both IE and FF and it works correctly.  Hmm...now what else can I break?   ;D

Seriously - thanks!  I'm in a big crunch right now to get several projects done and you just saved me a big headache!  I owe you one, or two or three...

I'll keep monitoring the "Who's online" issue and see if that is still a problem.  Right now it is showing the same users and guests in both places.

Hi.  I'm running SMF 1.1RC2, Mambo 4.3.5.h, and Bridge 1.1.4 and am having the same problem.

It would be very helpful to understand what was done in the database to solve this so that I could see if the same thing worked on my system.

You are having what problem?  There were a few mentioned in this topic...

Sorry....

The first problem, from the first post in the thread.  My settings for cookies and database are also as described by drummergirl.

Do you have a URL?
Otsikko: Re: Users Can't Logout
Kirjoitti: ebirrane - toukokuu 16, 2006, 06:59:24 IP
No. It's behind a firewall.

I was hoping you could tell me what kind of things to look for in the tables.  You seemed to be focusing on the sessions table in the previous e-mails.  By asking for a URL I wonder if you have an internal checklist of things that you go through and, if so, it might be helpful to me and others to publish that checklist.

If that's just not possible, I may just wipe everything and try a fresh installation, maybe with joomla instead of mambo as that seems to be the direction anyways.  I was just hoping for some help before doing that...

In Drummergirl's case, it was something in the URL that tipped me off that it was a problem with how the code was handling the session data as it was being altered by the VirtueMart component.

I'm not convinced that your problem is the same.  You are experiencing similar symptoms, but I would not say that you are experiencing the same problem.

If I could see a URL, I would know right away.
Otsikko: Re: Users Can't Logout
Kirjoitti: ebirrane - toukokuu 16, 2006, 10:26:30 IP
I see.

The URL of the logout button is:

http://localhost/mambo/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=43&action=logout&returnurl=2&sesc=be04b2638c6e5ba5e84bd7ada7c15cc9

The URL of mambo install is just: http://localhost/mambo
The URL of the SMF install is just http://localhost/smf

Are these the correct URLs?  Which URL would be beneficial?

Thanks again!

You are definitely not having the same problem then.

Check your SMF Server Settings.  Make sure that local cookies are disabled.

Local cookies are disabled.

I also noticed that if I log in from mambo as the SMF admin, and then go to the wrapped SMF page and hit the admin button, it asks for my password again.  So permissions are whack somewhere.

What is your setting for subdomain independent cookies in SMF?
Otsikko: Re: Users Can't Logout
Kirjoitti: Kindred - toukokuu 18, 2006, 12:06:58 AP
ebirrane,

no...   it is SUPPOSED to ask you for your password a second time when you attempt to access the SMF Admin section.   That's called admin security and is completely correct with the default settings of an SMF installation.

Otsikko: Re: Users Can't Logout
Kirjoitti: ebirrane - toukokuu 18, 2006, 01:26:05 IP
Kindred,

So *thats* what admin security is.  I had always wondered... ;)

Actually, it is not the same as the behaviour I see when using SMF standalone, so it confused me.  If I go directly to http://localhost/smf log in as administrator, and then hit admin, I am not queried for my password again.  Therefore, I postulated that it was asking for the address twice because there was some cookie error.

Nonetheless, upon entering the admin password the second time, it gives me the same error:

"Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again."

---

Orstio,

Use subdomain independent cookies is unchecked.  I have tried this setting both checked and unchecked.

I'll start going through my web server, php install, and whatnot looking for permission problems. If you can provide any debugging guidance or areas to look into, it would be appreciated.
