Otsikko: turn topics on and off?
Kirjoitti: UpAndGone - toukokuu 12, 2006, 01:06:57 IP
Hi Community!
We are currently evaluating forum software that we can use or modify for our concern. We want to have a sub forum where certain users of a particular role can introduce their selves. This introduction is a thread with a single post. It is not allowed to add more than this post.

However, the owner of the thread can edit his post as often as he likes without having to see a notice like "last edited on ...". When he has edited his post, the topic should move to the top of the topic list.

So far, so good, now on to the tricky part: The user should have the possibility to turn his topic on or off. Turned on topics are visible, whereas turned off topics should be moved to the bottom of the topic list or become completely invisible.

Is this – in any way – possible with SMF? I would love to hear some opinions.

Thanks a lot.

well, it's not possible with SMF out of the box...

however, it is definitely possible with a mod.  probably not overly complicated either... a simple conditional to check a table for on/off, display or don't display...
