Otsikko: Searching in SMF... Possible BUG with searching...
Kirjoitti: usaalpine - toukokuu 14, 2006, 11:07:21 AP
Ok, sorry about this posting spree, but here is another item of concern.

"searching" for topics/posts is inconsistent.

From the search field I am experiencing a wide range of results from the same query.

(1) You can enter a specific word, and request search,  The result can be "there are no results"

(2) You can do the EXACT same search again and you will get a result

(3) I am trying to understand why it couldn't find it the first time, but it could the 2nd time.

(4) You can make a search, and get a # of results

(5) You can make that exact same search and get different results

(6) I am trying to figure out why you get different results for the same search?

Thank you and advise,

Sometimes you might be (unknowingly) searching only within the current board or topic. If you want to be sure to search correctly, go back to the index and search from there.

When I first saw your repsonse, I thought that sounded a like a good possibility, but then as I said, why can you search from the exact same spot again and get results whereas before you got none, or why you get different results?

By exact same place I mean, you search from wherever you are, get whatever results, and then hit back and click search from the same place again and get different results?

Hmm, well I haven't experienced that, so I don't really know sorry.
