smf 1.0.7 is the current stable version, smf 1.1 rc2 is a release candidate. Rc`s usually come out before a new release or version change.

Thanks for the prompt answer. I was searching the themes section and it seems that there are more themes for 1.1.rc2.

there might be more themes by now, of course there are still alot available for 1.0.7 Most of the ones that are available for 1.1rc2 usually have another version that works with 1.0.7

Since SMF goes to 1.1 Final, people prefer to create themes or mods for 1.1 Rc2, so it will be compatible with future versions.

I also prefer using 1.1 Rc2, and suggest it to you. Much easier admin interface and many more features, with a few bugs which you probably won't encounter when using.

Yep, i think i will go for 1.1 Rc2, i really like SMF since it reminds me of vbulletin. Shall i use tiny portal as an CMS or are there some better ones for SMF? I've been using PHP Fusion and it doesn't do a good job of incorporating external forums. I'm also thinking of Joomla.

I run Joomla on mine and it works out pretty well. It`s not as easy to lean as TinyPortal or MKPortal
