OK... I'm not sure whether this is a bridge, template, bad db/forum move, or corrupt files issue.
Here are the stats first:
Joomla!: 1.0.8
SMF: 1.1 RC2
Bridge: 1.1.4
URL: http://www.tastyfresh.com
Alright... now for the story:
I took the new site live on Monday. I switched servers and moved the DB manually. I did not run the "reset" patch or whatever it is for when you move to a new server. I just modified things in the admin. Now that the DNS has been updated/populated, I'm starting to hear about some bugs in the forums. Most of them seem to deal with the forum editor and pop-up windows. So... what did I do wrong? Is it with the bridge, corrupt files, the DB or what?
Here's a complied list of errors:
possible error "Line 318: Object Expected" (IE 6)
Avatar/user column is visually compressed on some browsers
Editor seems busted: Can't add smileys or the BB codes.
Ajax quick post edit is gone
All pop-up windows open in parent window rather than "popping" up which then causes their fuctions not to work correctly.
Long URLS don't "break" the page template, but simply run past the edge of the template and disappear. When this happens, the "Reply, add poll, etc..." links also run past the edge and cannot be seen in FF. They show in IE.
One user said "when I have a new message, it obviously pops up and asks if I want to open the message in a new window. so I click yes and then I get the same message again. the second window that opens also registers that there is a new message and gives the exact same prompt."
Another: "when replying, if I reply during the time someone else has responded it asks me if I really want to post that or what (giving me the chance to read the new post) but it's a lie, cause my post has allready been posted. Sometimes it tells me that someone else has reponded (giving the above) yet.. no one has.. Oooooohhh.. ghost post."
In the editor (only in IE 6), when selecting text, you can only highlight 1 character rather than whole lines.
Your SMF_Header_include bot is missing.
ok... call me stupid... is that in the bridge, my template or what?
Nevermind. I found this posts:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=83751.0
I'll do as you said.
OK... I did EXACTLY as instructed... and I have the same problem still. At least it looks that way to me. I still can't use the editor tools and what not.
OK, good. Your SMF_Header_include bot is now installed and functioning.
Now, try this SMF mod package:
http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=265
OK... it's installed. That didn't work. I decided to try the repair_settings.php and that seems to have fixed it for now. I'm going to monitor it for a few days. Thanks for the help. Sorry if I'm a bit dense.
You may have uploaded that mod, but you definitely did not install it....
I clicked install and it was comfirmed that it was installed though. It's even in my installed package list. What am I missing?
(boink)
do not bump posts. especially after only 30 minutes.
-edit- whoops.... missed that 12 hours. I'm so used to 24 hour military time...
you clicked install, but you probably did not click proceed... if the mod is shown on your list does it show the option to install or uninstall?
Sorry... that was 12 hours and 30 min though ;) I defin. know better than to do it 30 min apart. I'm not that impatient.
It is showing up as installed in my list.
Oh, I see. Yes, you do have the mod installed correctly, sorry. :-[
You are using a non-default theme (one that does not use the default index.template.php), so you may have to make some of the changes manually to your theme.
oh... great... Let me switch the boards to that and see if I am still having problems. Thanks for helping me out on this. Heh... I don't suppose there's a default theme in green is there?
actually, there is... I think people have revised the default theme (using only CSS changes) into nearly every colour imaginable.
