I'm having trouble with the following setup, getting it installed and working from scratch.
Joomla 1.0.8
SMF 1.1 RC2
Bridge 1.1.4
I can get it all working, but I'm having some issues with logins and logouts, and posting.
I tested by creating a new user after the bridge was installed and configured according to all the suggestions here (local cookies off, database sessions on, syncing groups, didn't sync users). I only had the admin user setup in Joomla, and I used the same username and password for my SMF setup.
When posting with my new user account, I get "Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message." No matter what I do I can't post.
Trying to logout often gives me an error of "Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again."
I have yet to be able to use the admin in the wrapped SMF, as I get the Session Verification errors there as well.
Any tips on where to look? I'm fine with wiping everything out and starting from scratch too. You can try to setup and account and see the behavior at http://test.saboingaden.com.

Where did you read that you should synch groups, but not synch users? I can see that causing a number of problems...
Have you ever had any previous bridge or integration installed?
I didn't sync users as part of my troubleshooting. The only user I had in Joomla before I installed SMF and the Bridge was "admin". I setup SMF with the same user and password. I didn't think syncing would be necessary to try out a newly registered user (using the bridge registration) to see if I still got these errors.
No other bridges were installed. I deleted the database and all files and started fresh with the Joomla + SMF + Bridge install. I installed my other components first (event list and cafe press) and template before SMF and Bridge.
For a brand new install, which sync should I use for users? And I assumed that I only had to match the SMF Administrator group to Joomla's Super Administrator group. I left the rest at default (Registered).
I'm new to Joomla, so if there's some optimum setup from scratch I should do, let me know. Thanks for the help. I'm looking forward to using SMF. PHPNuke + PhpBB was a bit of a hassle to work with. I'm moving to this after 3 years, and I can't wait.

None. The buttons are there only for those who have existing Joomla or SMF installs that want ALL of their users synched ALL at once. It is not required to click any of them. Nowhere in the instructions does it suggest that any of the buttons need to be clicked.
You mentioned your setting for local cookies was off. That's good. What is the setting for Subdomain independent cookies?
That is also off.
Please turn it on.
I turned on the subdomain independant cookies. It still isn't working.
Something else I noticed that may help. When you login on the home page, then go to the forums it shows you as logged in, but when you try to post it'll give the session errors. When you try to login after first going to the forums page (logging in using the module) it gives a "password incorrect" error in the forum table, and brings up the forum login in the main forums area. If you then try to login again using the sidebar while still on this screen, you can get logged in.
Also, when trying to logout when you're on the Forum page, it gives the session timeout error. However if you logout while on the homepage, it logs you out just fine. (again, using the module)
Just some more wierd behavior to try and help pinpoint my problem. Thanks.
It seems your forum is starting a new session on every page load. Can you PM me super admin access to Joomla?
