I absolutely LOVE this theme and I want to make it my forum default... but not all of my mods show up when I choose to make it the forum default.

How can I "replace" the SMF Forum Default with this theme?  Any ideas?  I made a copy of the "default" folder and renamed it to "default_theme" so that if I messed up the default, I can always replace it with what was there originally.

So then I tried to copy the WoW-DK theme contents into the default folder... and reinstall all my mods.  But I get a lot of display_settings, message_settings and board_index errors..

Is there a way to smoothly make this mod the default?  The mods I want to work the most with this is the Download 1.1 RC2 and the PaypalDonations.  There are about 42 mods altogether... and maybe 15 will work without problems.

Is there any way to replace the SMF default theme with this theme and have all the mods work like they do with the SMF default?

I really want to use this theme as the default so badly!!

Thanks!!

Hi philliephan,

the mods you are having problems with are those mods which add/replace code in the existing template files.

example:

the Download RC2 mod

<edit file>
Themes/default/index.template.php
</edit file>

<search for>
if (in_array($context['current_action'], array('search', 'admin', 'calendar', 'profile', 'mlist', 'register', 'login', 'help', 'pm')))
</search for>

<replace>
if (in_array($context['current_action'], array('search', 'downloads', 'admin', 'calendar', 'profile', 'mlist', 'register', 'login', 'help', 'pm')))
</replace>

means "search in file and replace".

This has to be done for each theme because there is different code in every theme!
For example if you look into the "download rc2" folder you can see all the fixes listed in the install.mod file.

<---- a little confused....

should I be taking that code you posted and opening the install.php to each mod and put that in there somewhere?

or do I make your theme the default from the theme options area and then try to do what I was doing before? by reinstalling all the mods again? ('cause that didn't work)

or should I just rename your theme folder to 'default' and then try to reinstall all the mods?  (making sure none of the other files are in that folder that used to be in the default folder?)

*sigh* I wish I knew more about php and how I can get things to work nice with each other.

I don't have any problem testing with however you tell me to (I made up a test forum just for this purpose).  So really ... I guess if none of the options I listed above are what you're saying to do... would it be too much to ask you to take me through it step-by-step?  You can PM me if you like, but I'm sure I can't be the only one who's wondering how to make this the default theme and keep all the mods that work with the default smf theme.

I'd really appreciate whatever guidance you can provide!

Thanks!!

Personally I don't have any problems with the forum.  But with a site yielding over 360+ members, I have gotten some responses.  They are requesting the following.

1. Option for members to choose colors/character (mix match) - Also include an admin feature to enable/disable.  Just in case a guild does not want members to have this option

2. With different video/monitor settings the shades of the borders can look invisible to a poster.  Thus making it difficult for someone to determine where a post/signature are divided.

3. Background color to the Quotes do not seem to match the theme.  Hard on the eyes compared to everything else.

This has been the type of theme I have been looking for a long time.  I do appreciate the time you put into it alot!  Being a technical support representative for a Hosting company and our Guild website, I understand that sometimes there is a lack of appreciation for our jobs.  Keep up the awesome work!

Edit: Some grammer/spelling errors.

"mixed match" would mean to add even more color versions or a recoding of the theme.

Title: Re: WoW-DK

Video/Monitor settings were mostly user end.  I tried replicating it myself and the closest I could get was to turn down my brightness on my monitor.  When doing so, I could see how the border between the post and signature could look somewhat invisible.  I told the members to just turn up their brightness/contrast.  But you know how it is, that wasn't satisfactory enough.  lol

So they are asking possibly for a different color to the borders that define it more?  Maybe matching the color of text for the titles of posts?  Not too sure what would be a good match.

Thanks for adding those options!

Hmm, sure it is a theme error? I checked it over here on 3 different servers and everything works fine.

How does it work:

User themes (if allowed) overwrite admin themes after login!

1. scenario

admin - configuration - current theme

Main color of WoW-DK theme   orc-red
Allow user to change theme color   not allowed

-> everybody will only see the orc-red version of the theme

2. scenario

Admin - configuration - current theme

-> now every user has the option to select his own theme that he wants to see after his login.
      Profile - modify profile - Look and Layout Preferences - Personal color of WoW-DK theme

AND keep in mind that the admin is a user, too! So you are able to choose a color that differs from the theme that is shown if not logged in.

QuoteSo they are asking possibly for a different color to the borders that define it more?
You may change the background color in the code below (style.css):
/* Standard horizontal rule.. ([hr], etc.) */
hr, .hrcolor
{
height: 1px;
border: 0;
color: #666666;
background-color: #666666;

Hi Panic,

First I want to tell you: IT'S A REALLY NICE THEME!!

But I want change something... And offcourse i don't know how...

My problem is:
I want a post with different background color, for example:

First post: black background
2nd post: grey background
3rd post: black background
4th post: grey background
etc...

Is that possible??

like here, on this forum, its first white then lightblue, then white, then lightblue, etc...

Hi Raidon!

The code you are searching is in the style.css in your wow-theme directory.

/* Alternating backgrounds for posts, and several other sections of the forum. */
.windowbg
{
color: #fff;
background-color: #101010;
}
.windowbg2
{
color: #fff;
background-color: #101010;
}

change the backgroud color to whatever you like.

.windowbg is for the first, third, ... posting
.windowbg2 is for the second, ... posting

You are right! Changing the windowbg and windowbg2 colors changes the look of the frontpage, too.

Regarding the bar with your name I forgot there are two options:

1. you are using the default posters possition
(admin- configuration- current theme- posters information possition- default = top)

then the background of the posters info is in /maincolors/"the_theme_u_are_using".css

.poster_info
{
color: #fff;
background: #000 url(.././images/poster_info.gif);
background-position: top left;
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}

.poster_info2
{
color: #fff;
background: #000 url(.././images/poster_info2.gif);
background-position: top left;
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}

You could delete or change the image and give it a unique background-color.

2. you are using the left posters possition
(admin- configuration- current theme- posters information possition- left)

then the background of the user info bar changes with the windowbg and windowbg2 background color change.

to prevent the colorchanges to appear on the frontpage some recoding has to be done.

I am having this same issue.  I have converted a board of decent size from phpbb to smf and my users are testing this theme.  I as admin have no problems changing theme colors.  I log in as a converted phpbb user or a brand new registered user, and with any admin configuration that allows the user to modify the color in his own profile we get the message posted above.  I can change the user's avatar, or time format (which is on the same look/layout page) or whatever I want in the profile except the theme color.  If I modify the admin setting such as the two scenarios above describe.  Scenario 1 completely removes the color choice option from a user's profile look/layout page, the other presents the choice, but produces the error when clicking the Change button.

As a P.S. I just installed smf, tiny portal, and converted my phpbb forum yesterday.  Feel free to create a user if you'd like to try out for yourself.  Council of Elders Beta Site (http://counciloflelders.net/smf)

Also, While I love the theme, I've been using it with both IE and Firefox and can I just say the IE version needs some work.  I can't see:  Any Form Element borders (text inputs, buttons, pull downs all look like they're part of the black background).  Firefox doesn't have this issue.
Title: Re: WoW-DK
Post by: Goliathfox on August 15, 2006, 07:45:06 PM

I also have these issues.  Borders look fine in Firefox when I change the color, but in IE, there is no change at all.  I still have the issue with members trying to change the theme look with that error I posted earlier.  I have tried 3 different PC's with different accounts and permissions.  Even as admin under profile, I cannot change this.  I can only change it through the Admin panel, but that effects every user defeating the purpose.

I know your a busy guy, but any help on this would be appreciated.

in /wow-dk/styles.css change
input {

or whatever you like.

Can I ask a completely different barrage of questions?

I may have posted this same question over on the TP forum... anyway, my friend (who turned me onto smf, tp, and this wow theme) was noting that the e version's topic display puts the details of who posted above the post, not to the left like the previous version.

See here:  http://councilofelders.net/smf/index.php?topic=960.0 (http://councilofelders.net/smf/index.php?topic=960.0)

First question would be was this done on purpose?...e.g. feature request, design change, etc.

Second would be how hard is it to go back to the more traditional layout of poster info to the left of the post (e.g. like this site).  I'd be happy to do it myself... and maybe even tinker with how we might make this configurable, I just need some guidance since I'm a smf noob.

Zhorne,

I believe the answer you need for the posting is located under FAQ where you download the template.  I asked this myself and found the answer there.  By default the theme has the option of the posters avatar/info above it.  Follow these directions to fix it.

QuoteFAQ

1. I want the user information to appear at the left side of each posting insead on top of it. Is this possible?

- YES Smiley Go to admin -> configuration -> current theme and look for
"Posters information position"
Options are default (top) and left.

Well, even if it looks the same the version you can download at simplemachines isn't a TP version.
You need to download it at the tinyportal webpage.

As far as I know installing and selecting the theme should work then. If you still run into problems you may get better help in the TP-forums.

The code you are lookking for is in the styles.css in the main folder of the theme

you may change it to

font-size: x-small;

}

.small_pagelink a:active, .small_pagelink a:visited, .small_pagelink a:link

font-size: x-small;
border: 1px solid #9e853d;

I'm a great fan of the theme.  I'm having 2 small problems, and I'm not sure if it's because I set it up incorrectly or messed it up somehow, which is very likely.

Problem 1: On really high resolutions the graphic at the top seems to repeat.

Problem 2: When there exists an unread thread in a forum the book graphic becomes colored, which is expected (see image below).  But then there exists an unread thread in a sub-forum, it seems to revert back to the default SMF theme (see image below).

Mine did that too. It happens to the boards that have child forums. I had to change the BoardIndex.template.php file to adjust it.

Quote// If the board is new, show a strong indicator.
            if ($board['new'])
               echo '<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/on.gif" alt="', $txt[333], '" title="', $txt[333], '" border="0" />';
            // This board doesn't have new posts, but its children do.
            elseif ($board['children_new'])
               echo '<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/on.gif" alt="', $txt[333], '" title="', $txt[333], '" border="0" />';
            // No new posts at all!  The agony!!
            else
               echo '<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/off.gif" alt="', $txt[334], '" title="', $txt[334], '" border="0" />';

The on2.gif is the same as the default theme pic. I changed it to the on.gif one and it works fine.

Hi benobi!

Problem1:
Well, the header images have a width of 1600px.
You need higher resolution than this? WOW!

What you could do is take the header images and widen them.

Problem2:

Replace the on2.gif in the image folder with your desired gif (on.gif for example) od do what CrystalTears wrote in the posting above.

By the way, this is corrected in the current ZIP.

Glad to see you found time to update / fix that but seeing as how you have some available time to work on this theme do you think you can try to update the theme so it will work with this (http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=259) mod and this (http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=207) mod ? Please **he said with a smile** ;-)

Edit : I understand you do these things free for lack of a better word and me and I'm sure countless others appreciate this but I may be able to contribute some money your way if you could do this... either way im not demanding this but more or less requesting this... either way if you wish I can try and contribute some money to your work if you could do this for me and whomever else uses the above mentioned mods... either way ty for your time... no rush to get it done just whenever you "think" you can update the theme to work with the two above mentioned mods ;-)

Is there any way that the .windowbg, .windowbg2, etc. for the alternating background colors can be moved to the .css files in the maincolorcss subdirectory?  This would enable having custom alternating backgrounds (besides shades of gray) to complement each theme selection, ie. alternating shades of greens for Undead, browns for Tauren, etc.

The theme just doesn't have enough color by default.

I'd like to change the background color for posts when you do a search for posts, i.e. going into the profile and clicking on their posts link. The text and background are the same color. I'm just not sure where to adjust that.

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv412%2FJemah%2Fsearchcolor.jpg&hash=d24c50cbebf087b967c97919ea8e16aafb524c97)

@starrbuck:

feel free to add your windowbg styles to the maincolorcss of your choice! The maincolorcss files are loaded after the styles.css. Which means settings in the maincolorcss will overwrite the styles.css settings.

First - this is a beautiful theme and I thank you for such amazing work.

My question is this - I want to add some more buttons to the menu (I have a gallery mod for my members).  I found the section in index.template.php for the menu buttons and added the following:

// the [SMF Gallery] button
   if ($context['allow_smfgallery_view'])
      echo ($current_action == 'gallery' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' , '
            <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'gallery' ? 'active_back' : 'off_back' , '">
               <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=gallery">' , $txt['Pics']  , '</a>
            </td>' , $current_action == 'gallery' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $$last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>';

The text for the button doesn't show.  I noticed in all of the other menu buttons you had a number for the $txt.  I'm a bit of a newb at php and websites (though I love SMF - very user friendly to setup), and I was wondering if you could explain how to get the text for the button like the other menu buttons in your template.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

quick addition - with that code, if I chose one of the numbers from your other buttons, such as 331 for Members, the button shows that text and links to the gallery w/out issue.  I just need to know how to make it say "Gallery" or "Pics" in the same manner that the other menu buttons do.

Thanks!

Quotereplace
Code:

' , $txt['Pics']  , '

with
Code:

Gallery

or whatever

$txt[] are pulled from language files

absolutely right!

you could also define the text to load in the language file of the theme.
Themes/wow-dk/languages/Modifications.YOUR_LANGUEGE.php

Modifications.YOUR_LANGUEGE.php = i.e. Modifications.english.php

in your case i.e. add:
$txt['Pics'] = 'Gallery';

Panic - that worked great and fixed the issue I had.  Thank you for the quick response.

My next question is, I want to add a new button to the top menu that takes the user to another web site.  I'd like the button to mimic what is already there.  I have no idea what that code should look like.  It's not a link to another page on my site, but a link to a completely different site.  What would the code have to be in index.template.php to add a menu button that looks just like yours, but links to a different location?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I'm using the default orc look of this theme if that matters...

Giddeaon

look into the index.template.php (near bottom) for the tab section ans add:
// the [EXTRA] button
echo '
<td class="maintab_off_first">&nbsp;</td>
<td valign="top" class="maintab_off_back">
<a href="http://www.YOUR_LINK.com">TAB TEXT</a>
</td>
<td class="maintab_off_last">&nbsp;</td>';

blue, purple are the standard colors used for link styles some browsers use by default if no others are defined in the css.

solution:
define a:visited or simply add it to the link definition

Either change the a:visited, a:hover color to match the a:link color, or put all three on one line.

Example:

Quote/* Normal, standard links. */
a:link
{
   color: #1E90FF;
   text-decoration: underline;
}
a:visited, a:hover
{
   color: #1E90FF;
   text-decoration: underline;
}

Th that worked like a charm... I checked the example you had and thats a pretty blue but it doesnt go well with the theme so I set it to the default orange color... but I do like that blue color now I'm at a x-roads hehe... but ya that worked just great so thx CT ;-)

This is a great theme!

I was tasked with creating a website and forum for my WoW guild, and this was perfect!

The only problem I am having is with alternating posts! The colors are the same, so it can be difficult to detect when a post comes from the next author.

Here is where I think I need to look:

Quote/* Alternating backgrounds for posts, and several other sections of the forum. */

.windowbg

{

   color: #fff;

   background-color: #101010;

}

.windowbg2

{

   color: #fff;

   background-color: #101010;

}

.windowbg_s

{

   color: #fff;

   background-color: #181818;

}

.windowbg2_s

{

   color: #fff;

   background-color: #181818;

}

I have tried changing

.windowbg

{

   color: #fff;

   background-color: #666666;

}

to

.windowbg

{

   color: #fff;

   background-color: #101010;

}

...but several other areas of the forum also change to #666666, including the odd number posts, which is a desired effect. However, the entire post isn't changed (member name, etc), just the area where they have typed text:

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg269.imageshack.us%2Fimg269%2F8808%2Fdfez0.jpg&hash=2b0bd323045141e203b118510488adaf54528e31)

Any ideas on how I can change only the alernating posts colors and nothing else?

@dcr

Hi,

you are right!  Changing the color of the postings background will also change the colors of other areas.
If you don't want this to happen you need to change some template files.

If you don't care you have two options:
First you could cange "Posters information position" in admin - current theme from default to left.
Now the color of entire post is changed.

Second:
If you want the posters information on top of each post you have to change the following code in the maincolorcss files:

.poster_info
{
color: #fff;
background: #000 url(.././images/poster_info.gif);
background-position: top left;
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}

.poster_info2
{
color: #fff;
background: #000 url(.././images/poster_info2.gif);
background-position: top left;
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}

fire up your Photoshop (or grafic programm of you choice) and change the button. The needed font is available at the dl-page of the theme (in the german buttons package). Don't have time this week, sorry.

Well I had some questions on how I was going to do that, but upon further inspection of how you referenced images and CSS and JS files all I need to do is hack the content!!! Thanks for making that so easy!!  ;D

I edited this picture to show how I'd like it to be... which to me suggests for this placement it would have to ago after this line <td width="28%" valign="bottom" align="center" style="padding: 3px 0 5px 0;" nowrap="nowrap" class="copyright_r"><div style="width: 100%; overflow: hidden;"><a href="http://bdc.s15.xrea.com/" class="bdc_c" title="Author of the base theme." target="_blank"><span style="white-space: nowrap;">Pn-Pn Theme by koni.</span></a></div>but when I placed it after that line it throws the whole bottom part of the page ot of wack... hope you can help...

I have installed the 1.1 release. everything works fine except that when I try to click on 'home' I receieve a 'template parse error' and cannot proceed. This only appears to happen on the home page (main index page?)

Not sure if it is me or the template, obviously I am using SMF 1.1

Otherwise a stunning template  :D

Hi MoreBloodWine!

you may check the custom_header.zip at the themes download page first (manual included).

If you still run into problems you can mail me the files. But it will take a few days (am busy at the moment)

I'll check it out but for the most part the whole things gonna be the same as everything else I just want a totally diferent image... but if I run into issues I'll mail ya ;-)

But like I said can it be an animated gif or does it have to be a "still" picture ?

Hi, you don't mind if I use your WoWDK theme to create other online gaming (both casual and MMO) themes?  Like Guild Wars, Tabula Rasa, LoTR Online, Hellgate London, Audition Online Dance Battle Game, etc. etc. ??

As Panic said you should mention him but I just thought I'd mention it would also me nice to credit koni as well bec the WoW DK theme is based off of Koni's PnPn theme... either way I'd like to see some of your finished product... I like admiring how people code themes hehe...

Cool then.. I'll start working on my first SMF theme as soon as I finished updating the other forums I am managing... still stuck installing other features not bundled with SMF1.1 and installation of those in every theme... ;)  So no tentative date yet, but it'll come ^_^  especially those games our guild will soon play.  ^_^

Thanks again to both!!

Any update for 1.1.1 coming?

I tried installing the latest version with 1.1.1, it installs ok, but you can't change between styles, so its stuck at the default horde orc style.

Thanks, love the theme, would be great if you could get a 1.1.1 version out.

Hi mordesta!

no update is needed.
there are no theme changes from version 1.1 -> 1.1.1.

you can disable the version attention under admin - current theme - Hide theme version attention

I checked the style change option again. works over here without any problem...

You are using the latest theme version?

I'm using 1.1.1 as well, and the style changer doesn't work on either this theme or the pdk one.  The mini-help next to topics and posts doesn't do anything either.

No errors in the log unfortunately and I do have the latest version of each theme installed.  Maybe something changed with the stylesheet and javascript calls with 1.1.1?

If it helps, I used the full upgrade to go from 1.1RC2 straight to 1.1.1- so I skipped 1.1RC3 and 1.1.  I did not have any previous versions of these themes installed and did not install the themes until after the upgrade was complete.  All .php and .css files are set to 755.

I've also installed the Group Moderators and Arcade (2.0.4) mods and added tabs for them to the index (tab code matches that of the help tab).  When in those areas of the forum, these themes show the forum hierarchy tree twice (once with the search box, and another directly beneath it).

Also using Firefox 1.5.0.x for the browser.  Haven't checked it in Opera/IE.

Ok, ive re-tried installing the theme again right now. I still get the same thing, I cannot change between styles, the option for it is not there in the members account settings page.

I installed a brand new 1.1 install, then updated a few days later to 1.1.1 when it was released.
I did NOT have the theme installed before the forum version upgrade, and when I tried the theme with 1.1.1, it was the only custom theme installed, and no forum addons installed.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Here is a screenshot showing the "profile > look & layout preferences" section with the theme selected already. As you can see, the drop down box that should be there with the 8 styles is not there.

Ok, ive figured out what the "Problem" is.

When id installed it the last 2 times, i didnt change it to the overall forum default theme, and reset everyone on the forum to the new theme, so that its settings options show up under the Current Theme section in Admin section. All id done was change the current theme for the admin account itself.

When i tried just now setting the theme as the default board theme and resetting everyone to the new theme, when I went into Admin > Current Theme i found a new selection option, as in screenshot below.

It has an option to "Allow user to change theme color", which is set to "Dont Allow" by DEFAULT. Change this to "Show a selection box" and your all good. Mystery solved! :)

OK, I need to apologize to panic for unnecessarily panicking. :)

The theme changer is there...I thought it was supposed to show up on the front page instead of within the user's profile.  So disregard that "problem".

That leads me to ask the question about what the mini-help for Topics/Posts should do...clicking on the ?'s doesn't do anything.  Is there a blank field somewhere that needs filling in for those boxes to pop up something?  At this point, I'm not sure I need them to do anything, so just knowing more about them might be helpful.

The only issue I'd still like to correct is the duplicate tree problem with the two added tabs.

this is because the template of the mods load ', theme_linktree(), ' somewhere in their template files.

Edit :

Would I be correct in assuming this change means nothing unless you have the Advanced CAPTCHA mod installed... bec with the default / generic visual verification I dont even see an option to ask for it on PM which you do see when you have the advanced mod installed...

Either change the a:visited, a:hover color to match the a:link color, or put all three on one line.

Example:

Quote/* Normal, standard links. */
a:link
{
   color: #1E90FF;
   text-decoration: underline;
}
a:visited, a:hover
{
   color: #1E90FF;
   text-decoration: underline;
}

Update
I found this comment and applied it to Default_orc.css using this code

/* Normal, standard links. */
a:link
{
   color: #FFAC04;
   text-decoration: underline;
}
a:hover
{
   color: #FFFFFF;
   text-decoration: underline;
}
a:visited
{
   color: #DC9232;
   text-decoration: underline;
}

Works ok but I don't get a hover color over the visited links anymore, is defining the a:visited link last the problem.

No hover for the visited? That is strange!
Two things you could try:
remove the visited definition completely or add it to the link definition
ie:
a:link, a:visited {

Quote// the [EQDKP] button
   if ($context['user']['is_logged'])
      echo '
   <td class="maintab_off_first">&nbsp;</td>
      <td valign="top" class="maintab_off_back">
      <a href="http://mystique.neonet.net.au/forum/eqdkp">EQDKP</a>
      </td>
   <td class="maintab_off_last">&nbsp;</td>';

Works great.

I think this is a brand new question....I have this theme on a forum site for my WoW guild and we love it! I think I might make a new header graphic but otherwise awesome. However...we also have a screenshot gallery where our guild members can post images, and I would like it to match the forums. Can somebody port this theme for Coppermine Photo Gallery or tell me how to do it?

Panic is this theme going to be upgraded to suit the 1.1.2 update
am now getting a warning since doing the update

Attention of WOW-DK theme:
This theme doesn't correspond to the version of SMF that you are using. This theme is made for SMF 1.1.

Poll.template.php
Profile.template.php
are both highlighted in red in the version check

Just go search through the admin settings , you can hide the theme version attention... Ive asked about an update before and I was told to just hide the theme version attention heh...

The newsletter did not say anything about theme changes at first.
But then I saw in the forum that
Poll.template.php
Profile.template.php
Register.template.php
(used by wow-dk) got changed.

I've uploaded an updated version already!

Hey panic... wondering if you could do me somewhat of a huge favor... I'm only asking because I have no idea where to even begin with this one... not sure if you have ever used the arcade on your own forums in conjunction with the wowdk theme but I noticed something and surprisingly never picked up on it before... please reference the below pictures to see what I am talking about... when you view the arcade in wow theme mode the buttons arent there not that I'd expect them to be but when you view the arcade in default theme mode the buttons are there... what needs to be done to fix this... if you dont have your own forum with the arcade installed to work on this I can give you admin and ftp access to my test forum... Thx.

Love the theme!

I have tried to install various other WoW mods, like the item and character lister, enhanced calendar and staff listing and, following a successful install, could not access them through the site.

Discovered that these mods were written to be compatible only with the default theme.

How disappointing is this?  I mean, you take the time to develop a wow mod and you don't even support the one and only great wow theme available?

Anyway, Panic, sorry for the rant - freakin' great job!

Please dont take this as a flame but had you read through alot of the forums you will find that all mods are made for the "default" theme... now like I said had you read through the forum you'd have also found thqat to get a mod to work on any theme other than default you have to modify the theme files in this case wow-dk to get the mods to work... here check this out you will see that I have both the character mod and item stat mod working with the wow dk theme...

Ps; feel free to play the arcade if you get to bored , lol...

Not sure about the other mods, but the wowitem mod has no effect on the themes.

As for custom themes, can't really blame them for not customizing mods to fit a theme as one will never know which theme someone will use so best to stick with default which everyone will have no matter what.

You'll have to customize the mod to work with the theme. Ask the specific mod creators to see what files you need to modify to see it in your theme.

Just updated to 1.1.2 and installed the wow-dk fresh, awesome job on this btw!

Just a couple of things, I noticed that the enable news & news fader options are there, but the link in the admin panel to edit the news is gone =(

Also, when I click on any of the following links I get and error that the file could not be loaded:
Edit Features and Options
Edit Server Settings
Edit Membergroups
Edit Permissions

Any ideas?

hi, i'm new to the theme scene and i'm kinda stuck on something

i looked through the 11pages of this post and didn't see what i was looking for, though i could have easily missed it (11pages = a lot to read through :(  )

anyhow, i downloaded wowdk11b and unzipped it to a local folder on my pc

i then ftp'd into my site and created a 'Warcraft1' folder under the themes folder, uploaded the wowdk11b files/folders

i then went into the admin mode on my forums and went to the 'themes and layout setting', created the new theme 'from a directory on the server'...i named the new theme 'warcraft1' and clicked the install button...

it did it's thing and the new theme was loaded/created

i changed the forum default to 'warcraft1' and selected to 'reset users to forum default'

the thing is, nothing happend...the theme that came up is the original, default theme for the board...i had changed the theme to babylon just to see what i looked like, so when it changed back to the default theme i knew it 'did' something, but not what i was looking for

under 'themes and settings' this is what lists for 'warcraft1':
Theme directory (templates):
/hermes/web01/b1237/pow.heathersdad/htdocs/Machine/forum/Themes/Warcraft1
URL to above directory:
http://www.forcestar.net/Machine/forum/Themes/Warcraft1
URL to images directory:
http://www.forcestar.net/Machine/forum/Themes/Warcraft1/images

am i missing something?  did i need to download more than just wowdk11b?

can anybody shed some light on what i need to do to get this fixed?

thank you

erik

I suggest the following:

Delete that theme you created.
Delete the folders on your site.
Go into Admin, then Themes and Layouts.
Scroll to the bottom where it states: Install new theme, and browse for the zip file you downloaded.
Click on Install.

See if that helps.

holy crap, i am a nub...i just saw CrystalTears' post and was acting on that when i noticed the stupid folder name on my ftp site is 'WoW1', not 'warcraft1'...

once i deleted the theme, and used the proper folder name everything came up nicely

thanks for the kick in the pants, CrystalTears

edit:  i get a message that "This theme doesn't correspond to the version of SMF that you are using. This theme is made for SMF 1.1."

i thought wowdk11b was for 1.1.2...more to investigate i suppose

edit2:  dear lord, i'm a sharp one...wowdk11d, not b is 1.1.2...one of these days i'll get it together

quick question:  is it possible to set it up so that when a page comes up it randomly selects the image at the top (term escapes me atm)

for example, i open the site and get the gnome look...i click on a thread and it brings up the orc look...i move to another thread and it's the dwarf look, or theme or w/e it's called

is this possible?

thanks

You're missing some graphics.  Firefox doesn't show empty placeholders like IE does when graphics are not found.  Looks like you might not have copied all the files over.  Big giveaway are the links in Firefox that are supposed to be buttons (start new topic, start poll, etc).

Panic -

Not sure if this was an intended change or something left out in an upgrade.  I'm also not sure if this was discussed previously, I didn't see anything in a quick search...

I upgraded my site from 1.1RC3 to 1.1.2 over the weekend (yes I know I'm behind the times).  And after loading up the WoW-DK theme for 1.1.x, my user community complained a great deal about the browser default purple color for visited links over the dark background.  I had to go into the theme's maincolorcss directory and change each file such like so:

Original Code for 1.1.x starting at line 7 of each color/race file:

a:hover
{
        color: #fff;
        text-decoration: underline;
}

Original Code for 1.1 RC3 and previous starting at line 7:

a:hover, a:visited
{
        color: #fff;
        text-decoration: underline;
}

To resolve quickly for all color/race css files on a *nix box I ran the following one liner in the maincolorcss directory -

for x in `ls *.css`; do perl -ne 's/(^a\:hover)\r\n/$1, a\:visited\n/g;print;' -i $x; done

G'day

I was hoping you might be be to help me wit a bit of a wierd problem with this theme (GREAT Theme BTW - Kudos). it's a bit of a strange one and I can't work out why it's happening.

In FireFox, some of the input fields are appearing as White (FFFFFF) on near-white (FFFFA0). In IE it looks OK.
There doesn't seem to be any method or pattern behind the white-on-white except that it's always text fields and never NOT the first one in a TD

FF Screencap.

I've done a global search for the string FFFFA0 and it doesn't turn up anywhere that I can find.

Any suggestions?

In the main window of the forum u have the categories sorted nicely by a golden border around each.
Is there a way to use this border in the posts aswell. As it is I find the theme nice - but its really hard to tell the posts apart - they kinde blend in.

Can this be done?

Hi!

I am a new user, only a bit computer literate, but I am trying to help my friend set up a wow-themed forums byt using SMF (since it looked very user friendly).

Everything set up okay except I get a Javascript runtime error everytime someone tries to access a post.

When I debug the debugging screen shows me the following code:

   if (empty($settings['use_tabs']))
      echo '
   <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"><!-- // --><![CDATA[
      document.getElementById("quickmodSubmit").style.display = "none";
   // ]]></script>';
   echo '

as the error.

I have 1.1.2 and installed the wowdk11_d through the package installation, no other mods or packages are installed. Can someone help me please?

Hi, I am running SMF 1.1.2 and installed the WoW-DK theme, but I keep getting this error when I load up the main page of my forum...

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_collapsed_state() in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/wowradio3.2/forums/Sources/Load.php(1726) : eval()'d code on line 106

This appears right after the title of the first forum appears, and nothing else renders on the page.  I turned off all of  all of my mods to see if that was the issue, but the error still shows up.  Any ideas?

He!llo I am new to this but I love the theme.I don't know how to change the Orc theme or even to do this:

Attention of wow-dk theme:

You should put "Modifications.english-utf8.php" on the "languages" directory ( http://thesilverarrows.org/Themes/wowdk11_d/languages/ ) in the theme of wow-dk.

Copy "Modifications.english.php" of the "languages" directory of wow-dk onto the first. Next, rename it according to the language for which you use the file.

Duplicate the Modifications.english.php in the folder named above and rename it to Modifications.english-utf8.php.
Also search the forum and smf DOCs if you're having problems witht he buttons not schowing (utf8 related).

Awesome theme. . .

I am currently running SMF 1.1.3 and the theme works wonderfully, I would like to ask how I make 1 minor modification and also suggest it be made by default.

On the main page Topics/Posts show up

0
_

0

I would like to make the output more like

0/0 as the tag above the cell shows. without the seperated table so the cell is the same size as last post and board name and not broken up.

Also on a side note, I would like to take the Recent Posts that shows at the bottom of the page and place it where the News shows. I have temporarily added a mod that does something similar but I would much rather have it displayed like it does at the bottom of the board. possibly the table cell to the left of the search bar.

Hope I am explaining my desires well enough to be understood.

If you need to look at my forums site to get a better understanding of what I am asking. http://boards.sancara.servegame.com

Thanks

lot of options, the 3 first select box and the last 6 check box, are empty.

i've installed the french translation.zip too (Settings.french.php and Modifications.french.php) even if i try to pass the file in utf8 (and rename it) it can't fix this bug. Even when i try to pass the forum in english language, the bug appearing again.

Hi guys
I must say this Theme is great, and would like to say thanks for it's use.

I would like to add a Href link to our forum, from this site www.wowjutsu.com
Custom Seal Builder
http://www.wowjutsu.com/sealbuilder/builder.html#27805;4o
the Href text is at the bottom of the page that needs to be added.
it is a Realm image that updates Guild progression and ranking, with data aquired from the WoW armory DataBase.

My problem is i'm a noob when it comes to this

what i would like to have is the image/link  placed to the right of the Guild name on the Banner, is this possible?

I think it's the template main_above that it would need to edit, but not sure what to do.
any help would be great.

I hope this isn't completely dead.. But here's my problem: When I add new mods to my SMF, and they are supposed to add links in the admin sidepanel, all that appears is an empty line.

Can anyone help? I use the latest WoW-DK for SMF 1.1.4.

Plain english or english-utf8, cause there is a big difference

Hi,

the theme has its own modification.english.php in the language dir of the theme. not all mods add their needed text strings to this file (just into the default).

look into the install xml file of the mod and find the code that needs to get added to modification.english.php and add it into the theme's file.

I'm using SMF 1.1.4 + TP 0.98 + WoW-Dk 114v1. But for TP I have to install the v1.1 of the Theme.
Now I'm always getting an info saying that "This theme doesn't correspond to the version of SMF that you are using. This theme is made for SMF 1.1.".

- Is there a newer version for TP?
- Can I get rid of this attention-message?
- Am I missing some functions by using the old 1.1 version?

You can remove that "This theme doesn't correspond to the version of SMF that you are using. This theme is made for SMF 1.1." message at the index.template.php file of the theme

As far as I know there should not be a profile.german.php in the theme folder  ;D
There should be a profile.template.php in the wow theme folder!
The code is:

// color selection box
if($context['user']['is_logged'] && isset($settings['allow_color_change']) && $settings['allow_color_change'] == 'box')
{
      echo '
      <tr>
<td colspan="2" width="40%"><b>', $txt['theme_personal_color'], ':</b>
<select name="options[theme_color]" onchange="this.form.submit();">
        <option selected="selected" value="', $options['theme_color'], '">Use default</option>
        <option value="default_orc">Default Orc (horde/red)</option>
        <option value="blue_human">Human (alliance/blue)</option>
        <option value="blue_draenei">Draenei (alliance/blue)</option>
        <option value="red_b_elves">Blood Elves (horde/red)</option>
        <option value="blue_elves">Elves (alliance/blue)</option>
        <option value="green_undead">Undead (horde/green)</option>

Same here. I have installed the theme and after installation I get my forums to look like that.

Is there a real problem with the zip? I know I've installed this GREAT theme in the past and had no problems what so ever.

Hope just the download is corrupt. :)

I cant seem to see the "RE: POST" thing for Last Posts in the board index.  I'm hoping its a forum option I'm missing because it makes no sense that such a tiny feature is broken for me, but works for others. I have a screen from me and a friend who uses the same browser (Opera).

Me: http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/6695/forumissuere7.jpg

Link to forums: http://www.focusedaggression.com/forums/index.php (version: wowdk_114v1)

Ive tried all the color settings and that didnt help. I created a dumby version of the forum on my system, but it looked the same as does the demo of the forum theme.

Nope. Problem isnt solved. While you may see it correctly, i still do not. My cousin actually sees it incorrectly as well. We spent a few hours last night tooling with an online test forum (link (http://www.mech2.org/tempf/index.php)), and he would fix it for himself while it was still broken for me. I've tried removing my web cache, which didnt help. It cant be a cookie issue because i see the same thing on blank test forums. The RE code isnt even in the source.

This bug is so bizarre that i actually have replacement code ready just in case it remains unsolved. However, seeing as how odd this bug is i would very much like to find out its origin.

As for my code change, i dont know much about PHP so it may be incorrect. In BoardIndex.template.php i changed the original code on line 221(may have been 220) to:

if (!empty($board['last_post']['id']))
         echo '
         ', $txt[22], ' ', $txt[30], ' ', $board['last_post']['time'], '<br />
         ', $txt['smf88'], ' ', $board['last_post']['link'], ' ', $txt[525], '
         ', $board['last_post']['member']['link'] ;
        echo '

Change active on: http://www.mech2.org/tempf/index.php

Strange others can see it and you don't...
Which browser do you use and which operating system?

With your codechange I see "in Re: Welcome to SMF! by Sir MMPD Radick" twice.

You've forgotten ,' in your code that causes a display error in the "Minutes to stay logged in message" at the bottom.

Title: Re: WoW-DK
Post by: Nemecks on February 06, 2008, 03:30:25 AM
Browser: Opera Version 9.25 Build 8827 on Windows XP. Same version and OS as my friends post above (http://files.focusedaggression.com/members/Jensen/lastpost.JPG )

I only see 1 set of:
"Last post on February 05, 2008, 04:49:43 PM
in Re: Welcome to SMF! by Sir MMPD Radick"
under the last post column (image (http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/8877/forumissue2wg1.jpg)). I've tried viewing it in IE as well. Looked the same. I could redownload firefox and try that, but I doubt anything would be different.

Somehow it looks like its echoing twice for you, probably from 2 different sources and only once for me. The one properly displaying for me is my modification. Is the last post code anywhere else in the original version? Or handled somehow somewhere else.

Fixed the login length display error. Somehow i put two semicolons randomly in there.

No, there is nothing "wrong". If you use another language than english you need the buttons for this language, too.

All the buttons are in the theme's images/english/ folder.
If you use turkish as your language you need to create a folder called turkish in the theme's image folder and put your button images in it.
You could copy the english buttons or download the button_psd.zip from the theme's download page and use the PSD-file to create your own (turkish) buttons.

Already translated buttons available:
english
spanish
french

IF SOMEONE HAS CREATED BUTTONS FOR OTHER LANGUAGES MATCHING THE WOW THEME IT WOULD BE NICE TO SHARE THEM WITH US (I will upload them to the theme's dl-page)

Hey Panic! Thanks for the great theme. Only a few problems that you might know something about... (or can help with).

Just having trouble getting mods to work in general on the theme. I tried to use the following three themes:

Redirection Boards - http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=38
Integrated Chat Module - http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=60
WoW Character Profiles - http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=500

And all of them have trouble showing up in the Admin anywhere. I can get the Redirection Boards to work, but all the options show up blank. I just had to figure out what the checkboxes did by trial and error. The other two mods don't work at all :( Well I should say, I can SEE where they should show up - but there is never any text next to the tools to tell me what they do. It's always no text. (I can take some screenshots if you want me to show you what I mean)

I am considering switching back to a "Classic" board because of these problems... but wanted to check with you to see if you have any suggestions as to how to get these to work?

Thanks Panic! LOVE the theme... don't want to lose it just yet.

Regarding the SMF 2.0:
Quote from the smf 2.0 beta 3 info:
QuoteOn a quick note to mod and theme authors, we are currently working through the templates to move towards more semantic HTML layout. Unfortunately we didn't complete this in time for this beta, but this will make the next release, so please bear this future change in mind when looking at updating your mods and themes.

Because of the expected theme changes I will wait for the next (beta/RC) release before I will start to convert all my themes to SMF 2.0. Just to safe me some time and headaches. Hope you understand...

I've toasted my PC  >:( :'(

As far as I could see, there have been only a few minor theme changes from 1.1.4 -> 1.1.5 wich effect this theme.
I think you can savely (BACKUP before!!!) upgrade and disable the theme version attention message.
I will upload an updated version as soon as possible!

Hello.  First of all, this is a superb theme.  you did a really awesome job on this.

I have a few questions for you, hopefully you can help me... or maybe point me in the right direction as to where i can find the answer.  i would really really appreciate it.

#1 - How come when i have the setting for custom title turned off for everyone, people can still add custom titles?

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.buffaloruninn.com%2Fpics%2Fcustom.gif&hash=a0c4343617a397f31858377dd588502491143432)

#2 - Is there any way to add custom icons for the forums?  I have a main forum called "Class Forums", then child forums with the names of each class, such as Hunter, Druid, etc.  I would like to have different icons for each instead of the default book icon.

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.buffaloruninn.com%2Fpics%2Fcustom2.gif&hash=5f7bf05d94b455d3acad4490a9a160029cfec191)

#3 - i have "Regular Groups", as well as "Post count based groups".  The settings allow you to add "stars" or custom pics for the post count groups.  Is there any way to make the pictures appear under the post level instead of only text?

this is how it appears: (the circle icon you see is the icon for the "guild officer" group, and the word "Sergeant" is his level of posting.
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.buffaloruninn.com%2Fpics%2Fcustom4.gif&hash=003acd335cbeca52caad22117a47da230c2b0a55)

this is how i would like it to appear
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.buffaloruninn.com%2Fpics%2Fcustom3.gif&hash=fb4c21c6997c805689118ab453ca1b95357d508f)

If you have any questions... please let me know.  i am really stumped on this stuff and would like to fix it.

again, thanks for your help.

Quote#1 - How come when i have the setting for custom title turned off for everyone, people can still add custom titles?
working perfectly over here. did you change any code?

Quote#2 - Is there any way to add custom icons for the forums?
there exists a modification which does that (don't remember its name).

Quote#3 - i have "Regular Groups", as well as "Post count based groups".  The settings allow you to add "stars" or custom pics for the post count groups.  Is there any way to make the pictures appear under the post level instead of only text?
I am only aware of one way to load the icons ($message['member']['group_stars']) at the moment. If the user is assigned to a primary group the icons of this group are used. If not the icons of the post groups are used as group stars.
maybe one of these mods helps you:

Paddex,

As with most posters, i wat to first acknowledge your effort in making a great theme, it really does stand out against many other themes, not only as a "good-looking" theme, but also as an extremely well coded, and bug free theme.

I have absolutley no problems with it what so ever, until i started customising it.

below is a copy of a thred i have posted on the smf coding board:

"I am using paddexx's WOW-DK theme in conjunction with Tiny Portal. I have been experimenting with different add-ons and basic coding modifications. I have added a custom header before without a problem, by following paddexx's instructions here:

http://forum.padexx.de/index.php/topic,2.0.html#post_header_style

However after freshly installing the forum, and redoing the header modification as before, this problem has begun with the bottom border of the theme. I have retraced my steps and tried everything I can to fix this without success.

See image of problem here:

http://www.forum.dreadednight.org/issue.jpg

I have followed the instructions on paddexx's forum when I added my custom header successfully, and now again, i followed his instructions exactly, however this time it hasn't worked.

Before attaching any files, i was wondering if anyone had experienced this issue before?

thanks.

*Another note, the WOW-DKs selest color theme optiojn- all other colors work without the alignment issue on the bottom border.

and a link to my forum, in case it's needed:

www.forum.dreadednight.org

thanks again"

A second question, is it possible to have alternating background images that would change according to whether a user was logged in or logged out? I came across a post on the smf forum that asks a similiar question, i will link it below in case it explains what i am trying to say better than i can"

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=237120.msg1547218#msg1547218

essentially, if a user was not logged in, the background (that is by default named"main_bg.gif") would display one image. and then when the user logged in the background would show a second image.

thanks for you help, and well done on an exceptional piece of work!

Hi Tommy!

padexx = panic = me ;)

QuoteI have followed the instructions on paddexx's forum when I added my custom header successfully, and now again, i followed his instructions exactly, however this time it hasn't worked.
And you really did the same as last time? Maybe youve changed some image dimensions, edited some css definitions...

QuoteA second question, is it possible to have alternating background images that would change according to whether a user was logged in or logged out? essentially, if a user was not logged in, the background (that is by default named"main_bg.gif") would display one image. and then when the user logged in the background would show a second image.

in the theme's index.template.php search for

<td id="bodyarea" style="padding: 0px 1px 12px 1px;">';

and replace with

';if($context['user']['is_logged])
{
echo'
<td id="bodyarea" style="padding: 0px 1px 12px 1px;">';
} else {
echo'
<td id="bodyarea2" style="padding: 0px 1px 12px 1px;">';
}

in the theme's css file find
#bodyarea
{
background-color: #000000;
background-image: url(images/main_bg.gif);
background-position: left top;
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}

duplicate it and rename #bodyarea to bodyarea2 and then change the background image.

Thanks for the reply,

I have made the changes you suggested for the variable backgrounds, however I am getting this error returned with line 447 highlighted:

And just another small question, when you say "duplicate it and rename #bodyarea to bodyarea2 and then change the background image", should bodyarea2 have the hash symbol in front of it or not? (like #bodyarea2)

Thanks again.

needed it to be:

';if($context['user']['is_logged'])

Excellent theme but I have a slight problem I have uploaded it to my forum and am now getting this message across the top of the forum:-

Attention of wow-dk theme:
You have to create "Modifications.english-utf8.php" in the "languages" directory ( http://martinsforum.com/community/Themes/wowdk_115v1/languages/ ) of your wow-dk theme.

Duplicate the "Modifications.english.php" of the "languages" directory of wow-dk. Next, rename it according to the language for which you use the file.

I haven't a clue as to what or where or how I am meant to make the modification mentioned please could someone help I am using smf1.1.5

I've just installed the SMF and Nuke-SMF files and i'm getting an error with only this theme.  The error I get is:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: themeheader() in /home/httpd/vhosts/xxxxx.xxx/httpdocs/header.php on line 36

The call out in the code is:

function head()
{
$ads = ads(4); // display Ad Baners from the "4" position
    echo $ads;
    themeheader();

}

Line 36 is colored red where the error is at.  Any ideas how to fix this?

Nice job on the theme btw. I have a silly question though. I installed this on a test site but I can't seem to find where the color changer is for the different faction headers you included are. I may be going blind in my old age but I can't for the life of me figure it out....lol

Are you sure it has been updated I just downloaded it and tried to install on a 1.1.5 test forum and got the message that the file is corrupt or not compatable with the version of smf will try downloading and installing again but thought I'd let you know about the error from the first try.

EDIT:  Same result with the second and thrid downloads.

Hi there.

I got this version for tiny portals however I was wondering how do I change the banner?

Is there a way to import my own banner but keeping the style of everything else?

I would like to put this banner into the header: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh197/novaxavon/omenbanner.jpg anyway in doing so?

Thanks

You need better directions on how to create a header where people can use their own custom image, sure I know to open it in photoshop. But from there I dont know how to use my own image, all the instructions say is to create two image files and it doesnt even say how to do that bec I know you need a top and a bottom but the PSD is a top and bottom together so how does that split into two images (top and bottom) ?

QuoteHow do you make the buttin wider without distoring the overall size of it if that makes sense.

I guess what you are looking for is PS -> images -> canvas size...

A few steps to your own button:
1. extend the width of the canvas to the right (i.e. 400%)
2. edit the text
3. duplicate and move the "background" layer to cover the white space
4. move the "right corner" layer to the end of the text
5. use the rectangle selection tool and select the area you want to be your new button
6. crop the image to the selection (PS -> image -> crop)

QuoteI know you need a top and a bottom but the PSD is a top and bottom together so how does that split into two images (top and bottom) ?
I haven't sliced the psd image. So what you can do to get the two needed images is:

edit the image to fit your needs. SAVE it!

To create the "top" image (steps are equal for the "background" image) select one of the "top" layers, right click on the layer's thumbnail and choose "select pixels". Now crop the image and save to web. do the same for the "background".

I'm using 1.1.5 and the latest version of the wowdk theme and have been having serious problems with wowcharacters. Stupid as I was i updated the forums without removing my mods and wowchars decided to stop working. Due to not being modified for 1.1.5 it also refused to uninstall and the new file that I found on the modification site gave the message that the file wasn't an update and refused to install.

After removing wowcharacters manually I managed to install it on the updated forums, just needed to change the $themedir/ stuff according to instructions and then change that file that wasn't found back to the default.

Now wowchars work but I got one small problem, I'll probably missed something stupidly simple but that is usually hardest to see. When I open up my forum profile and look down the links to the left I get [] instead of wowcharacters. The link works and takes me to the screen where I make my characters. What I can't figure out is where I screwed up and what I have to change to actually get it to say what it is instead of [].

It wasn't just that, it was creating a lot of errors in the log on the subs.php file and we have found that when our forum produces a lot of errors, our host starts screwing around with us so we're trying to run a clean ship.

I know the first one is coming from the global headers and footers mod, but I don't get this error on any other theme.

8: Undefined index: globalhf_title
File: /home/xxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 2901

I don't know why I am getting this second error though.  I do have SMFGallery Pro installed but this error comes even when I'm just hanging out in the forum area with no blocks that even reference gallery.

8: Undefined index: smfgallery_admin
File: /home/xxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 2897

Both errors come with just about every page view while using the new 116v1 theme.

Hi!

The mod only edits the default theme files during its installation. In this special case it adds custom text strings to the Modifications.english.php of the default theme. You need to add these to the Modifications.english.php of the wow-dk, too (in theme's language folder).

Hi Padex :)

The title to our forum is quite long.  On large monitors it shows fine, at about 1024x768 the forum title disappears behind the information box in the top right.

Is there a way to dynamically resize that title to fit the resolution, and if not; what do I need to do to shrink the size of the font so that it fits on the majority of displays?

Thanks in advance.

I don't do the tinyportal ports of the theme myself and have very little experience with TP. But doesn't the TP version have a "front page" button AND forum button?

It does.  I was able to find the TP version sometime after I made this post. I appreciate the reply though.  Thanks!

I done some digging on this and the fix for wow-dk116v1 is pretty easy to do.There is no real conversion needed if running on Tiny Portal                                                1.052.

Install both the theme and TP then open index.template.php and find the code for Help button.

// Show the [help] button.
    echo ($current_action == 'help' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' , '
                <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'help' ? 'active_back' : 'off_back' , '">
                    <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=help">' , $txt[119] , '</a>
                </td>' , $current_action == 'help' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>';

Now move it down a few lines from the bracket above and insert this code

// Show the [forum] button.
    echo ($current_action == 'forum' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' , '
                <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'forum' ? 'active_back' : 'off_back' , '">
                    <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=forum">' , $txt['forumdk'] , '</a>
                </td>' , $current_action == 'forum' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>';

so it looks like this.

// Show the [forum] button.
    echo ($current_action == 'forum' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' , '
                <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'forum' ? 'active_back' : 'off_back' , '">
                    <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=forum">' , $txt['forumdk'] , '</a>
                </td>' , $current_action == 'forum' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>';
    // Show the [help] button.
    echo ($current_action == 'help' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' , '
                <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'help' ? 'active_back' : 'off_back' , '">
                    <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=help">' , $txt[119] , '</a>
                </td>' , $current_action == 'help' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '<td class="maintab_off_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>';

Close the file then open Themes/default/languages/index.english.php

Add an entry like this
$txt['forumdk'] = 'Forum';

I placed mine after line

$txt[103] = 'Home';

Close that and then it should then start showing a seperate forum button as well as the home button for this theme.This should be some help and save some time I hope for some of you plus it is a nice theme. ;)

I recently went through the process of creating a custom header, and all went relatively well. What I'm wondering now is, is there a way to name the forum, through the forum title option within the feature configuration tab (so that the tabs and page are correctly labeled) but have that title hidden on the header? I ask because I would like to design a logo for the header and don't want the font to interfere (that and the font would then be redundant).

Thanks...

Hello commonmind!

changing
<div style="font-family: Georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; padding: 5px 0 12px 90px; white-space: nowrap; float: left; background-image: url(images/header_bg_r.png;">', $context['forum_name'], '</div>

to
<div style="font-family: Georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 30px; padding: 5px 0 12px 90px; white-space: nowrap; float: left; background-image: url(images/header_bg_r.png;"></div>

in the theme's index.template.php removes the forum name in the header

We've been using your theme for quite some time, and thank you for your hard work.

Our Globals are posting this in the error log when working with members:

8: Undefined index: title
File: /homepages/5/d217677497/htdocs/Themes/default/ManageMembers.template.php (eval?)
Line: 21

When working with bans, this is logged on the forum error log:

8: Undefined index: title
File: /homepages/5/d217677497/htdocs/Themes/default/ManageBans.template.php (eval?)
Line: 21

Any ideas or suggestions?

I am using 1.1.7 and I get this error
QuoteAttention of wow-dk theme:
You have to create "Modifications.english-utf8.php" in the "languages" directory (domain.com/Themes/wow-dk116v1/languages/) of your wow-dk theme.

Duplicate the "Modifications.english.php" of the "languages" directory of wow-dk. Next, rename it according to the language for which you use the file.

I did what it said but
after I made a copy of mod~.php in the same folder and renamed it,
the error still stays!
Most things seems to work other than the notice always showing
I even tried to delete the original Modifications.php but the error stays there.

Hello,

I'm French and I try as much as possible to use correct English for me to understand.

So I use with SMF 1.1.8 with TinyPortal 106beta2 and Wow-Dk116v1 theme.

My problem is that the "FORUM" button behaves exactly like the "HOME" button links are the same I'd like to know or change it.

You can see here the problem : http://www.buffmeiamfamous.fr/forum/index.php

The forum exist at this link : http://www.buffmeiamfamous.fr/forum/index.php?action=forum

Thank you in advance.

Hey.

I've just installed SMF 1.1.8 with this theme.

I'm having a problem with the layout when viewing a topic. The users information, avatar and such is placed over the text but I'ld like it to the left.

I've linked two pictures. Picture number 1 is my layout and picture number 2 is another side which is using the same template but is having the information and avatar to the left.

Picture 1 (http://i40.tinypic.com/3442jvd.jpg)
Picture 2 (http://i41.tinypic.com/71pb7q.jpg)

Is there anyway to change this?

Thanks in advance.

Looky what I found, just had to read the whole thread twice to find it lol.

You should be using SMF 1.1.8 or you will have serious security risks and also the latest wow dk may not actually work with older smf now.

The 1.1.6 version is the latest one.Have you tried to install them one after the other on the forum with no success? You may have odd code parts from the failed installs causing issues with the latest one.

When you say it crashes the page what exactly is it displaying to you on trying to install ?There shouldnt be any reason DK 1.1.6 wont install on a 1.1.6 forum unless maybe something else is adding to the problem.

Makes no difference what version your running on smf wise except for the purpose of security.I use this theme and all blocks appear properly.Check the block settings that you have enabled them to show and also what pages to show them on.There should be a list you can open at the bottom in the blocks settings to do this and on the blocks screen check theyre activated.

That's just it though, I'm in the Themes and Settings but there is no place I see for locations/blocks. I run another SMF forum with a different theme. There's a link at the bottom of the block configuration that says "Choose where the block should appear.
[Show] [Hide] "

I just don't see that option in this theme unless it's located somewhere else

Also, there's no default link for the forum when coupled with TinyPortal. Is there a way to modify/add buttons to the top?

I just noticed something else in Admin mode...my "Gallery" link has disappeared. It comes back when I'm in default theme though

I'm having a bizarre problem on SMF 1.1.10 with Simple Portal 2.2.2.  I'm using SP in standalone mode.  The functionality of every button is perfect.  But when I click on "home", the forum button remains highlighted.  Is there something simple I'm missing?

I attempted to work with the simple portal custom them tutorial on thier site, but all I accompplished was having the forum button highlighted when home was selected, and no button highlighted when forum was selected.

Thanks in advance!

This theme works great overall in any browser, but I noticed an error that causes an exception in IE browsers.

Forum version: SMF 1.1.10
Current SMF version: SMF 1.1.10
Theme: wow-dk119v1

The theme is the only thing I have changed on the default install of SMF 1.1.10. It was an automated install through my ISP.

This is where the issue is on line 978 of display.template.php:

if (empty($settings['use_tabs']))
echo '
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"><!-- // --><![CDATA[
document.getElementById("quickmodSubmit").style.display = "none";
// ]]></script>';

This causes IE to pop up an error related to quickmodSubmit ID field, as it is not anywhere on the forums. I've caused this error with a Guest login through an Admin Login.

For now I've resolved the error by changing the code to:

if (empty($settings['use_tabs']))
echo '
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"><!-- // --><![CDATA[
//document.getElementById("quickmodSubmit").style.display = "none";
// ]]></script>';

Basically I'm commenting out the quickmodSubmit call. This seems to work, again on users from Guest to Admin. Commenting that line out does not seem to cause any issues.

Also, I've noticed that the error doesn't exist in other browsers simply because they don't cause an exception. The faulty code is still there, they just handle the non-existence of the ID field quickmodSubmit differently.

Hi,
just installed your theme. Looks really good. But I have some problems installing some modifications manually because you choose a other file structure.

Mods:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1161
Version 2.0, not 2.0a.

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=804

I have more mods installed but this are those with which I tried.
WIth a other custom theme I didn't encounter any problems.

Is there any way we could get a matching WordPress theme?

Honestly, I'd be able to chip in a few bucks for the effort... I'm THAT impressed with the SMF theme, and I'd love to make my WordPress blog match it.

Would you please add TP support to this theme ?

Ever since the site close and they screwed up post migration everything useful has been lost in regards to themes. The code would only really ever be a one time edit for you if you added support for it ;-)

Anyone interested in doing this ?

The authors already given past permission for this theme to be converted and crip pretty much doesnt want to touch anything that he hasnt made even though he's done past conversions on this mod before bloc made the bad decision to lock down the old site and lose ALL of the good themes like this one which were TP compatible.

  • BM-Wine , if you still want the 098 version Converted just shoot me a PM ..
PM sent and thx... while 1.0 for TP may be the new norm which means the end of hand editing mods for the old version of TP there's just a few small things in 0.98 that I like which were removed from 1.0. Most people would call me nuts for liking these small thigns but when you've used something for so long you sort of come to like it.

Crip has as he said he would converted version wow-dk119v1 of this theme for TP 0.98

He also gave me permission to host this for other people who'd like a TP version of the most recent release (as of this posting) named above. So, if you would like to use wow-dk119v1 for TP 0.98 you may download it from here: wow-dk119v1_TP.zip (http://www.eojmarket.com/TP098_Themes/wow-dk119v1_TP.zip)

There is one thing worthy of noting though, the below is a quote from a PM he sent me about some theme changes he was unable to complete because of code confusion. Best I can tell the theme seems to work fine without these changes but still, you never know what might come up without them.

Quote from: Crip on August 19, 2010, 01:07:37 PM
Search for:
// display user name //
Add Before:

// TinyPortal
     if($context['TPortal']['showtop']==1)
     {
// TinyPortal end

Search for:

echo '
</form>
</td>
</tr>
</table>

Add after:

';
// TinyPortal
       }
//  end
echo '

Injoy it :)

Edit: Regardless of the missing changes due to code confusion maybe padexx can figure them out and then add a link in the main post to the TP version I am hosting for theme version wow-dk119v1.

Who knows but I bit the bullet and went 2.0 RC3 for the added security and to be quite honest I love this theme above all others just for it's layout. Thers a few other ok themes but they all have the theme names and the Simple Machine Foum logo imprinted on them which when your trying to have a "nice" looking site doesnt make it look so nice. In any case, I would absolutely love to see this theme ported for 2.0 and if it could be done 100% correctly and have any irrelevent code removed for old mods he may have tested with etc. I might consider paying for it as I'm sure a few other people might as well. But even then that would all depend on how much.

I can NOT select red or BLUE anywhere in theme settings I can only select different themes by different people so I have no idea what you mean

Also what the heck is this ---->

Attention of wow-dk theme:
You have to create "Modifications.english-utf8.php" in the "languages" directory ( http://mammothattack.art-izm.com/Themes/wow-dk119v1/languages/ ) of your wow-dk theme.
Duplicate the "Modifications.english.php" of the "languages" directory of wow-dk. Next, rename it according to the language for which you use the file.

All I have done is install it AND I want English I dont want any other language and I havent changed it to any other language

Do I have to duplicate this file and then change it to english.php because I have NO IDEA what the name should be. This is ridiculous all I want is an easy forum not problems grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

@padexx - If your still around and assuming you don't intend to port this theme to 2.0 compatibility may I have permission to find someone to convert this to a 2.0 theme ?

Also, I never got around to asking this but have always been aware of it. Why does there seem to be double code in the Display.template.php file of this theme which means double edits when hand coding a mod ?

Here's a small example of what I'm talking about for code that appears twice in the file...

// Show how many posts they have made.
echo '
', $txt[26], ': ', $message['member']['posts'], '<br />
<br />';

// Show avatars, images, etc.?
if (!empty($settings['show_user_images']) && empty($options['show_no_avatars']) && !empty($message['member']['avatar']['image']))
echo '
<div style="overflow: auto; width: 100%;">', $message['member']['avatar']['image'], '</div><br />';

@darksanctuary - Wish i could help but my knowledge of themes is limited to hand coding in some mods.

Edit: @padexx - Also, the preview field of posts is yellow when it should be the grayish black color if I'm not mistaken. Same goes for the extra permissions area of TP 098 blocks.

@MoreBloodWine
I am still around...sometimes.

This was my first theme for smf. Way back then I've just used koni's PN-PN theme as a base and only made some graphic changes. It turned out to be very popular. Thanks for that!
But because of its highly customization it turned out to be a nightmare to give support to ("MOD A, B, C, ... does not work") and maintain.

As long as credits are given (copyright) anyone is allowed to edit it.

I will release a few themes for smf 2 soon(er or later). But haven't started working on a new WoW theme yet and it won't look 100% the same way (if at all) as the old wow-dk theme (new code base).

So if someone wants to jump in and update it to smf 2 I am fine with that.

Regards
padexx

Sounds good and thx for replying, I just really like this theme and would hate to see it go... it's layout is great IMO. Plus I got that nice header image I like using.

If you could, I would be interested to see a "dummy pic" of this new wow theme when you get one made up. As for modding / porting this theme to 2.0, thx for the permission. Assuming I can find anyone at all let alone anyone who knows what the hell they're doing I would make sure that all credits etc stayed in. That said, wouldn't this theme technically become their due to the major overhaul required for 2.0 compatibility ?

I only ask because lets for a minute assume I'm not the only one who wants to see a 2.0 of this theme, that means whoever edited it would probably want to host it here on the site and keep it as a 2.0 maintained theme.

For example as soon as images/graphics of the theme are used for the "update" (and I guess that is what you want to do to get a similar look) credits must be given.
edited... based on...
Beside this you will be able to release it under your name.

Well I just started an attempt to update this to 2.0.  I gave up.  :(

Anyone have any suggestions for a similar theme, whether wow-related or not?  I looked for Koni's PN-PN theme and don't think it's been updated either.

I might pick it up, but it will not be a 1:1 copy. But I'll make it as close as possible to the original theme.

Wasn't really so hard to make, when based on Yabb SE Next Gen. The theme is 90% done:
