My wife and I have run into a problem and it may come to a point where we have to reinstall the entire forum. If this does happen, will the most recent backup sql file bring back all of the member info, posts, and stats?

In your host, go to your database link. In there, you should have access to "edit" the database, which for most hosts will take you into MyPHP. Here's a pretty easy-to-understand tutorial. (http://codex.wordpress.org/Restoring_Your_Database_From_Backup)
