For the love of god, please can we have SFTP support built into the package manager. Unless i can find a fix for this ftp / sftp problem im gunna get a new forum software (which i dont want to do).

Its all very good people talking about it, but there needs to be a mod made of have it hard coded into the system.

There will be no new features added into 1.1, it's in a feature freeze.  This could be considered for 2.0.  If you need a mod immediately, post a request on the mod board and not in the feature request board.

Even without sftp support if you haev ssh access to your server you can just chmod -R to get the package manager to work, then chmod back at the end, no? ftp is just an extra convenience.

Adding sftp doesn't seem to be the simplest task in the world (Looking on google anyway). I found a nice bit about it here (http://www.toppa.com/blog/technobabble/322) but as I don't see any evidence of anyone having done this is PHP previously. As kegobeer says this isn't going to happen in 1.1 and to be honest isn't really a priority for 2.0 considering work load against benefit. I'd be interested to hear of other forum software which supports this btw.
