Having a weird problem and looking for a little bit of help. I'm reasonably certain it's not SMF at fault, but I'm running into a dead-end trying to nail this down, and hoping somebody's seen this before.
First off, I do have a SMF system running on Linux host just fine, absolutely perfect.
I have a spare system here running Win2K, and decided what the hey. I installed Apache 2.2.2, PHP 5.20, and MySQL 5.0.22. (All current as I'm writing this.)
I installed SMF, and it's working out of the box. Just the basic plain vanilla installation, everything seems good.
My problem is applying mods. Any mod, nothing in particular. (Sake of argument, CAPTCHA from the download section). It uploads to my server fine. The preprocessing test works fine. I go to apply it, and it says it's all good.. except, it's not.
I look thru the mod's XML file to see what it's supposed to be changing in the source files, and it's not changing everything.. it's changing some of the files, but others are being skipped entirely.
I checked Apache's logs, no errors, and no PHP errors are being reported either.
Anyone have any thoughts on this on where to look? It seems to be working properly otherwise, but this is driving me nuts. :'(

No, no errors being reported there either :(
I obviously did something wrong, guessing in php.ini. Did some poking around and found another thread referring to XAMPP. It also had all the newest versions of everything, gave it a spin, and now its working just fine. Operator error somewhere, just wish I knew where it was lol.
