Otsikko: session_save_path seems to stall the install
Kirjoitti: johnatthebar - kesäkuu 12, 2006, 02:37:38 IP
I'm attempting to install 1.0.7 on the remote server of a corporate sibling. After entering the basic information about my server and hitting "proceed," my hourglass appears, then disappears, then the following "warning" appears at the top of the page:

"session_save_path() has been disabled for security reasons in install.php on line 327"

That's it. The installation does not proceed.

The install program has created a bunch of tables in the database. When I try to return to www.mysite.com/mycommunity, I get a "template parse error."

Any help?

Okay, I tried doing everything again and didn't seem to have a problem, but that template parse error remains, so I can't log in as an admin. I'm going to try manually switching to a different theme, I guess.

No dice. Even after reinstalling the whole show (1.0.7) on a new set of tables, I get this classic:

Template Parse Error!
There was a problem loading the /Themes/default/index.template.php template or language file. Please check the syntax and try again - remember, single quotes (') often have to be escaped with a slash (\). To see more specific error information from PHP, try accessing the file directly.

This is a fresh install and I haven't changed a thing in the index.template.php file, so I don't see how an odd quote could be at fault here.

The server's running PHP 4.4, mySQL 12.22. My host tells me the server requirements are met.

(for PHP)
# the engine directive must be On.
# the magic_quotes_sybase directive must be set to Off.
# the session.save_path directive must be set to a valid directory, or empty.
# the file_uploads directive must be On.
# the upload_tmp_dir must be set to a valid directory, or empty.

I'd be grateful for any ideas.

If you have parse errors and you haven't modified any files, that usually means the file is corrupted.  Review your FTP client upload settings (SMF files should be uploaded as binary files, or you can use your client's auto feature) and download a fresh copy of 1.0.7 from our site and try uploading again.

Thanks for the quick help, kegster, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

Binaries? My client's been set on auto, so I set it to binary before moving the files up. (I'm working in XP, with the .zip download, unzipping it to the desktop and then moving the unzipped install files to the server via FileZilla.)

Used a new table prefix during the install, just to be safe.

But the same damn parse error. Viewing /Themes/default/index.template.php in my browser doesn't help, either--the PHP seems to be dying completely. All I get is a couple empty <html> and <body> tags.

Anyone? Still struggling here.

If nothing else, what questions should I be asking our hosting service?

Have you tried another FTP client?  You could also try using a different zip program to extract your files.

Got it! The problem was actually with disableTemplateEval. A change to Load.php did the trick.

Thanks very much for the help.
